I had a Panasonic cordless drill that had a defunct battery cartridge. New ones were heinously expensive so I went to Battery World on the off chance they had something. The guy popped open the cartridge, extracted some rechargeable C cells and then gave me the option of which to replace them with. Rebuilt the cartridge and it worked as new. Worth a look...

The light would continually flicker whether fully charged or running on the normal d cell batteries.
i would not recommend them to anyone.
I agree, this thing is not worth it.
There may be a way to revive this rechargeable batteries.
