  • Takes a while to clean after trek

Just got back after 5 days down the South Coast (NSW) staying at the Nelligen Big 4. A delightful place to stay right on the creek. There are some good trails to be explored in the surrounding forests. We did some every day. The most interesting was Nelligen to Shallow Crossing and then onto Milton via The Sheep Track. Another was up to Pigeon House Mountain which gad a few difficult sections but even some 2 wheel drives tackled it - bit punishing on the suspension I would have thought.

Took almost 3 hours today to clean the Prado inside and out.

Shallow Crossing Clyde River - the warning only cross at low tide. This is low tide.

The Sheep Track - quite easy in dry weather. Might be a bit different in the wet.

Can you come and do mine OGF? It's still grotty from the GTG. Mr Fido had other plans this weekend so the Kaka got neglected since I was helping in the garden instead.

You gave me the guilts so I went out and got the worst of the dirt off the Kaka, even gave the engine bay a good wash with CT18. No pics, it's a bit hard when it's dark when you finish LOL. The Kaka gets serviced on Friday and it will get a high pressure wash then anyway.

I spent several days over Easter at Shallow Crossing, the tide didn't come up much higher than that, yet when I was there in early January with the king tides, some idiot in a Disco 3 and a trailer load of bikes tried to cross when the water was about 800mm over the crossing. Last I saw of the Disco it was being winched onto the back of a tilt tray!
There's some nice tracks around the Mogood Lookout area, if you aren't averse to some serious pin striping.

One good thing about a 4WD, they look good dirty.

Just managed to clean the underside of mine after a week on the beaches around Denmark. The 4WD and the camper take a while to clean, especially the sand inside the car, its a loosing battle!

Nice part of the world. We head quite regularly and for most major holidays, we have a holiday place at Merry Beach. I should keep an eye out for you guys next time.

Not done sheep track, yet, but have got a fair few pin stripes following my Father in law into the state forests to collect firewood. He has a very old ute that he's not adverse to bending. (Its all legal, he has a firewood collection permit )

Over Christmas 2012 we saw a hilux drop its front tire off the edge of Shallow crossing. Then get himself more stuck trying to recover.

Another thing about Shallow crossing, I've been told to try and cross on the outgoing tide. The incoming tide brings the salty water upstream. So a good clean is a good idea!

Come-on, you (me) can spend 3 hours just cleaning the rubber door seals and wiring rubber covers that go between the frame and the door. Get the toothbrush to those window rubbers. As a guide, following 6 or so weeks out bush, I will spend a day on the outside and under the bonnet followed by another day doing the inside and polishing out the scratches. And this will include getting the dust out of the air vents and tubes. Then another day on the camper trailer.

Spent a couple of good weekends at Shallow Crossing. Was a bike rally called Oyster Rally run by Batemans Bay Tourers.

Nice spot. Would not mind going back there again.

                            OGF,
yep the being out in the bush is great.
cover the it in mud and dust and anything else you come across.
Got back from a week at Abercrombie NP great time then??
got home on Sat at 3 in the arvo.
Time to unpack the start to clean the Prado.
Spray it with carwash 1 hr and leave overnight out side.
Sunday 5 hrs cleaning outside and give it a polish, then?
the wife is on the job cleaning the inside wiping, vacuuming and the final run over with a lint brush.
Only took 3hrs to do the inside.

                            looks new again.

obsessive, compulsive. yep that's the way to go

Quick high pressure clean under the car to get rid of salt, still got half the beach in the car. You guys have too much free time.
