In O6 I had a black gxl on order for 3 weeks. In a state of panic I chickened out and went for silver. If your intention is keep it in the city. Great! A great majority of the ones I see in Melbourne look like dirty dogs  Again with the one on order ( arrives in May) I was tempted, but again went for a silver rig. My current rig still looks great and the scratches endured on a safari are not so visible. And yes Darkhorse the new rig looks great . Best I don't look at it so often..or my local car wash will be richer

Very nice, but looked simple/plain and every man and his brother are nearly always buying silver.

I originally wanted the charcoal grey and now I do. Look sooooo much nicer, bit more classy and when I finally get the custom leather interior will look superb.

Here is a picture to help you make your mind up!

            Regards,

Darkhorse, That is one great looking truck. I know mine isn't black but look how good the chrome is offset against the dark colour, only a dark colour gives you that same effect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I've gone the black and llike most others have been humming and haaing whether I change it to a silver or not. I've been waiting for mine to start being made for a long time, and then I see a black Prado drive by and I always think, "Black is for me".

I think you just know when you see it.

Even dirty it still looks awesome. And fingers crossed, March is still the month for mine to be built. I couldn't handle ANOTHER delay

Thanks everyone for the tips, I can't wait to get it!

This will be the first garaged car that we have, my current one is a company vehicle and it sits in the driveway. We have had to put a nice auto garage door in and move a lot of stuff out so that the Prado has a nice home! There is not a lot of room with the boat in there, but at least it will be covered.

This is my planned production month (March), fingers crossed it actually is!

                  Hi all,

Another tip/warning for owners of large Black cars . Like large white cars, they are popular for use as wedding cars.

My dear lady had a Black Commodore SV6 with all the extras and it was used as a wedding car for a family member. The problem was that the wedding ribbon used contained gold metallic thread which scratched the buggery out of the bonnet as it fluttered in the wind :!: After being professionally buffed out by the dealer, the paint job had clearly visible swirl marks

Black does look good in a Prado tho', especially with a dark window tint.

                    Sambo,

Mate just go for black. Yes it can be nasty to clean but ours looks real schmick when clean.

Have not been happier with this colour. It was 2 weeks old and used as a wedding car at the very last minute. Thank god it was clean!

Enjoy the Black you will not be sorry.
                    Regards,

I love my black Prado !!!!!

Yes it does get hot, but the aircon is so good it doesn't take long to cool down either. We also got the bullbar colour coded and it looks amazing! (Check out my avatar ) People are always looking 8)

                        Go the black...

                        Lacey

PS We did have second thoughts about our colour choice, but not for long. I'm so glad we didn't change it now

I must say, I have noticed a few around the coast over the last couple of weeks, and they look awesome. So I am glad I didn't change it in the end.

Re: For those of you with Black Prados....

My last car was a black Subaru Forester XT, loved the look when washed and polished.... but too much effort to keep clean and you also tend to see the polish swirl marks and scrathces around the door handles more easily.. as for hot, didn't worry me as the a/c systems these days work a treat, especially with tinted windows. Though i wouldn't buy black again.
I had a charcoal RS Liberty, that was nowhere near as bad.
BUT in the end, i bought the pearl white Prado..

I have ordered a new Prado in black or ebony, and have heard from a few mates that their own black cars are nightmares to keep clean.

We don't currently have any water restrictions here, but then friggin Brisbanites are going to steal it so will most likely in the future.

So am possibly thinking of changing the colour if not too late!

Let me know what you think, cheers!
