Not really prado related but it will be in the back of one lol....Looking at getting a tent in the next week or two and have no idea on a good quality brand ?? Ive had 2 large canvas tents before then the nylon type but sold them all and bought a camper which we have since sold and gone back to wanting a tent. Im not sure I want canvas due to the weight (reason for going to nylon last time) as I want a decent size tent, not some piss arse thing. Need at least two rooms or one big one which can be separated into two areas plus a good awning. (need some room with a 6 year old). Looked at Spinifex, Oz trail, Coleman, Blackwolf and different other brands. Bloody confusing and so many different answers from each sales person. Any body have their preference.....Cheers steve

Just looked that up Rog, pretty good looking tent with really good reviews. 36kg in weight. I wonder if you could hang some thing half way to make like two separate rooms ?? Do you know if their is anything/provision to hang from the roof like a sheet or some thing ?... Cheers SteveFace lift 150 Prado V6 auto. No mods yet

True. But I have messed about with light weight tents for years and I've had enough. They are heavy, but very quick to put up and robust in crap weather and extras can be added.Originally posted by Steve M View PostYeah look at them Beach just found them to be very bulky and long, .......Cheers Steve

Ghost, just checked out that Coleman, couple of bad reviews (good ones as well) in regards to holes and things BUT there is a bad review in regards to Service from Kangaroo Tent City at Parramatta which is the store I was thinking of going to on Thursday night ?? Might be just one bad apple but I will check it out further in regards to their return policy. I did read the tent itself has a 5 year warranty.....Cheers SteveFace lift 150 Prado V6 auto. Yeah Beach I certainly like how quick they set up. They had one at BCF I checked out yesterday arvo and it had like another part added to the front of it, looked quit good. As mentioned just the bulkiness of it turned me off a bit as Im trying to avoid running roof rack.....(but may have to yet).....Cheers SteveFace lift 150 Prado V6 auto. No mods yet

Steve we have had an earlier version of the Coleman tent and now have the Oztent RV 5, with awnings and tagalong prior to that we had the Coleman.Originally posted by Ghost View PostI run the Coleman chalet v9 good tent quickish to setup with two people and a fair bit of space, still fairly heavy tho

The Coleman was good, but the bag zip tore in the first outing, and one of the pegs loops tore on the third, otherwise pretty good and heaps of space. It fitted the four of us well for 5 years. It takes about the same time to set up as our full oztent set up.
The thing for us is that we had to set it up twice in the rain and the inner got wet before we had it up. With the Oztrail it's up very quick, and the kids can get inside whilst you peg it out and out of the car/rain
The only downside of the Oztent is that it's very heavy and takes up a lot of room. It's a shade under 2m long so getting it on the roof is a mission at times. But the bags have heaps of space and are very sturdy. We can fit all 5 of us in the oztent alone without the tag along attached, so we get great flexibility. It's not for everyone but it does for us. For long stays the oztent plus Oztrail 3m gazebo is marvellous, and setup isn't that long once you've done it a few times.Last edited by r4ndll; 06-05-2014, 08:05 PM.[SIZE=2]120 GXL D4D Auto, with a 'List of Wants' greater than the 'List of Needs' greater than the 'List of Haves'

Yea I've had mine close to 2 years now brought it from bcf when they had a big sale, haven't had any tears etc, so can't comment on the warranty side, but happy with how it's made, has got some well thought out features, but one gripe it could have a few quarter windows in the fly at each end has them in the actual tent but not in the fly.... It survived having my 4 month old staffy pup 2 kids and the missus and myself for 5 days over Easter no dramasOriginally posted by Steve M View PostGhost, just checked out that Coleman, couple of bad reviews (good ones as well) in regards to holes and things BUT there is a bad review in regards to Service from Kangaroo Tent City at Parramatta which is the store I was thinking of going to on Thursday night ?? , I do put down a tarp as a ground sheet before putting the tent down tho, stops getting the base all cruddy. I like the benefit of having three rooms tho, the middle one we use for the food etc
