  • Advice on Trusted service centre / mechanic on the Gold Coast

Hi all, I am would like the opinion of anyone who can steer me in the right direction of a good mechanic on the Gold Coast. My 120 D4D needs its 120K service. I am pretty fussy and would like work done by someone that comes with a good reputation. I would like to steer clear of dealerships if possible (usual dramas in the past).
I have recently moved to QLD from WA and towed our UEV490 Conqueror across the country. I have no current knowledge of any mechanics here on the Gold Coast.

    Thanks in advance.

    G'day RichChris
I also live on the Coast and have just brought my Prado a month ago. I am new to Prado Point and have noted the amazing resistance to what "Mr Toyota" charges and advises. So much so that I have been looking myself to find an independent operator to service my car (and still am). Spoke with Baileys' Injector Service in Brisbane and they advised of some peeps down here and are going to send the details (I will copy you) HOWEVER I decided to get my engine checked our (160K service) and decided to go to Toyota Grand Motors near Harbourtown (11 Gateway Dr). I went in there to discuss my fears with the Service manager Leroy Dunne and after that discussion decided to get them to check my engine and do the service.
WELL I have to tell you they were magnificent, there service was excellent, they provided me with photos of the process and of the replacement of my seats ands seals etc, they then evaluated the rest of the engine and gave a glowing report on my engine (phew). They also provided the injector "numbers" for each unit +0.9/-1.0/+0.8/+0.3/.
I have to say I was absolutely impressed with the service and the quality of the workmanship.
So until I receive the info re an independent org. I would recommend Grand Motors 07 55836888
    Hope this helps

I'm pleased your experience with Grand was good. Mine was terrible (Southport service center). $900 to tell what wasn't wrong with my car it seemed.

I'm still looking for a decent 4WD mechanic.
2007 GXL V6 - ARB Bullbar with LED lights, snorkel, extractors, 2 1/4" dual exhaust, K&N filter, dimpled/slotted rotors, headrest dvd players, Ebay Satnav/reverse camera, GME 3100TX, Tigerz11 Side awning on custom brackets with Maxtrax mounts, 300W Invertor, ARB Underbody protection, Lightbar and STZ 265/70 tyres.
Wish list in order I'll get them: Sliders, 2" lift, E-locker, Winch bar with winch.

Sounds like you got them on a good day YMUS and I'm sure plenty of other people have as well. My car went in there at harbour town 6mths ago for 170k service. I agree with you that their customer service is fantastic . Great to deal with but unfortunately it all comes down to who does the service not the manager. Prado had the towbar recall done and the rear bumper wasn't refitted correctly, no dramas 5 mins and I had it all back how it should be. Wasn't till I was going away a couple weeks later that I gave the car the once over, checked the oil level and thought whoah that's a bit high. Ended up draining the sump and refilling the engine minus the 1.2litres of oil that toyota had overfilled the engine with. That's over 6ltrs they put in my car. Lost my business so I'm giving 4wd and performance centre a go out at nerang in a weeks time so I'll post up how I go with them.

The road less travelled is definitely the best road to be on

I started going there too. They did our 200 km service and it's run so good. Definitely going back next month when it's due again.
