This is our 3rd camper and by far the best. You need to find something that suits your style of camping. Longer trips, more gear carrying then soft floor. Short overnighters, less gear carrying then hard floor. If you want to grow into it then soft floor is more versatile IMHO.

Dueler, given you're in Broome and it's peak tourist season there, why not wander into a few of the caravan parks and campgrounds, if you see a set up that looks interesting have a chat to the owner. Most people are more than happy to talk about their campers and you will get a more honest opinion tan from a salesman.

In Broome ATM I reckon just about every brand ever made would have a presence there.

Have just finished upgrading the trailer suspension to have landcruiser pivot blocks and greasable pins. Had this trailer for 14 years and like a lot of others on PP have travelled all over the country. Next trip is about 6 weeks covering Kakadu, Lietchfield , Gibb River - Kimberley's then to Bungles, home via the Tanimi Desert road to Alice then Plenty / Donohue highways then blacktop back to Brisvegas.
Over the last 14 years we would have covered approx 100000 km towing this trailer behind 5 different cars.
08 VX D4D, Lift, Safari Snorkle, Trailblazer Fridge, Custom Storeage System, BFG, ARB Safari Bar, Wife, Kids, Codan NGT HF Radio, Debt.
06 100 Series Sahara, Bilteins, Kings, Beaudesert 3", Diff drop, Unichip Q4, Safari Intercooler, EGR delete, 20ft Bushtracker, Codan Envoy more coming.
Sometimes i wake up Grumpy, most times i leave her sleep.

Thanks for everyone's comments and pics, I've been in touch with a few suppliers and am happy with where its all headed. Good point on the activity currently going on up here with other campers. I'm currently away up the Cape Leveque now, seen a few soft and hard floors and asked a few questions. Soft floor will be the go for me I rekon. On our way up we saw a new box trailer in pieces (axel and wheel separated from tub) pushed into an offshoot drain. Current road conditions up here are putrid as a best description and rattling the fillings out of everything that moves.Prado 120 Series Build; http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?24346-Desert-Dueler-120

We're just awaiting the delivery of our Trackabout Dakar extenda. I've seen a few trackabout campers and was pretty impressed with what I saw. We did a tonne of research on the Myswag forum and ventured out to Tom Price to have a closer look at a Safari Extenda which really impressed us. After all the research the general consensus was that Trackabout make a fairly bombproof trailer.
They have a few trailers that may suit what you're looking for. The 4x4 tourer and even the safari may suit your budget and specification level. Just ire in mind that the trailer can be specced up in the future quite easily.
When we contacted Trackabout we were impressed with the way Dave and Kym handled the initial consultation and all the questions I had regarding fit out and some customisation work I had, I felt I was chatting more with mates that with business owners.
I also had a few criteria for the new camper in that it had to be an Australian built camper using Australian canvas and a heavy duty trailer. We've been impressed with the build photos that have been filtering through as the trailer progresses. It looks like the camper will arrive towards the end of July and the first trip will be Port Hedland-Broome-Cape Leveque-Broome for the Broome racing carnival and then back to our home here in Port Hedland.
If you're still up in this part of the world when it arrives and you'd like to check it out send me a pm. We're getting very excited as the delivery date draws closer, can't wait to be looking at it in the flesh.
Cheers,
Chris.
