  • New suspension toy... I mean tool

When I fitted my Bilsteins back in February, I borrowed a pair of spring clamps to swap the front coils onto the struts. I remember saying a little prayer when I saw them bending, because if one of them snapped or let go things could get ugly fast. So I've been keeping an eye out for a better set at a good price, and then yesterday I saw this online and went to pick it up.

If anyone in the Brisbane area needs help fitting coils to struts, give me a shout, so we can give it a try

How does it hold the bottom of the coil?
As an FYI, on the 120 and 150, the front coils can be safely disassembled/assembled on the vehicle without spring compressors.

Now thats a proper spring compressor! ( hope you got it at a bargain fridayman) I dont expect these would be too cheap brand new.

        Nice purchase!

Looks like it holds the stem/shaft at the bottom of the strut?

The ones I've seen have arms at the bottom like those at the top.

I dont expect these would be too cheap brand new.
The Chinese ones aren't so bad, sub $200 for the mechanical type and sub $300 for the hydraulic/pneumatic type. Still over-kill of the average DIY'er though I guess! Mind you a brand name thread and hook type would probably be up near this so it's not too much of a stretch.

I was actually looking for a compressor for spray painting the truck when I saw this for a great price (the seller's workshop had upgraded to a hydraulic unit). If I hadn't just had my alignment done, I would be testing it on my own struts this weekend.

AMTS.... a rough outline of disassembly/assembly of the struts on-car please in case I have to change a front shock out in the boonies. I do have some el cheapo spring compressors but a better solution would be appreciated. Neil
