  • Light Bar Specs What to check for brightness

    I presume when checking the specs on a light bar its the LM's you are mainly checking for ?? Which I presume is light output ?? The first one has lower LM's then the second one but the first light bar has nearly double the lights (40 all together). 12 spots by 2 rows and 4 floods x 2 rows x2 (8 either end with double row spot in the middle)
    The second has 6 floods at either end and 12 spots in the middle but only single row for the lot so only 24 all together ?? Am I better going the double row or single row. I like the size of the single row better, its not as high, not as much depth wise but is slightly longer (width) which is fine for me, but I want the most light output which to me if going by the LM's the single has more light (yes its dearer).....Cheers Steve

    Steve, we bought a 23" bar from Sunyee with twin spread LEDs outside and spots in the centre. Originally meant for the 150 but ended up on the C-ute. #1 wanted one for the P-ute and decided he didn't like the one we bought and went and bought a 'Monster' 24" light with supposedly >1.5x the output but to me it is the same. Both throw lots of light sideways and up and down and depth is barely more than high beam. Very white light at 6000+K which can be a problem for some people. Given the name brand bar was about 2x the price I couldn't recommend it over the ebay one.

      Yes mj, this is from Sunyee as well. I have my light force for spots and will be leaving them on. This will be going on top of alloy bar on the top loop. I have the brackets but just havnt had time to look into the light bars been so busy at work so finally going to get one tonight if I can decide which is better. I've checked out ARB's and it was just on $800 I dont have that sort of $$ to spend just on a light bar and to be honest even if I did i doubt I would anyway. Im tossing up between these two http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/331248750...84.m1438.l2649 or this one http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261522823...84.m1438.l2649 .....Cheers Steve

        Hey Steve,
        If you like the single row go for that one. Lumens is what your looking for but reflector design plays a part as well, quality of the LEDs (some LEDs produce more lumens per watt than others) and also how truthful the manufacturer is about the specs. Don't think there would be a noticeable difference in brightness of the two your looking at but the single is like you said narrower and is probably the newer design. Whichever way you go I'm sure you'll be happy with the results. I've got a china 42" on my roof and it's fantastic so you don't need to spend big to get good results
        Good luck
        Cheers

          This is the one we bought and on the C-ute that is all there is other than the factory headlights and it is fine. Mounted it about halfway between the bar and the top loop and it works really well.

            i am looking at buying a compact 8-12 inch led light bar also;

            can anyone else recommend any brands that you have installed and are happy or unhappy with the results?

            so far for warranty and price based, the korrlighting.com.au set looks the best, but any help is appreciated.

                [IMG][/IMG]i got this one from the same buyer as mjrandom, very happy with it and the quality and has a two year warranty, better warranty then the big name brands. Is it any better or worse ?? To be honest I can't compare as I havnt had the others to compare with. But I'm extremely happy with it and for just over $100 including heavy duty wiring harness I reckon it's a bloody good buy. Certainly lights the road up

                    like MJ said the spot doesn't go further than the high beams but it does saturate the road with some awesome light, mine is mounted lower aswell.

                    With the money you save you can always get 2 x led spotties which is what i was thinking about.

                    You cant really go wrong for the price, ironman ones were on special at local store here in darwin at $300 for a 90watt bar. (no thanks)
