    *4WD AND CARAVAN*

    hi guys, new to the website. this is the rig. D4D grande with a 18ft jayco expanda outback. want to do some offroad trips with this. not hardcore offroad but you know, the dirt tracks, water crossings etc. nice drives but also fun to do aswell if you get what i mean. please if you know some tracks or destinations around brisbane (when i say around i mean 500km radius). thanks

    Have you towed the van much yet? How does the Prado do on the open road with the van in tow? Nice setup anyhow. Posting pics like that is likely to set the jealousy juices flowing around here........ 8)

      Looks great.
      The Jayco site shows a tare weight for your van of 1920 kg.
      I would be interested to know how the Prado copes especially when you are in some of the steep climbs.
      We spent some time around Maleny a few years back and were surprised at some of the short but steep climbs.
      We are looking to upgrade our van to match the new vehicle and would be interested in your experiences, though everything looks very new.

        That's a great looking setup Mr FPV.

        Looks like you're ready for the circumavigation and have setup to do it in style. Very nice.

        Don't perspectives play funny tricks... the Prado looks like a toy car compared to the van from the rear angle. Maybe the van is really that much larger though

          hey guys,

          yea its beautiful. just towed it to cotton tree near mooloolaba at the sunshine coast. car towed it beautifully. was heavy on diesel around the suburbs (as it would) but on the highway doing 100km/h we were getting between 13-16.5 ltrs/100km. dad is pretty F***ing happy. its 1920kgs for the onroader but we got the off-roader which adds another 50 or so kgs to the van but fully packed, it weighed at approx 2395kgs. was near the towing limit but it did an absolutely bloody great job. will post some more pics of it set up and on the road!

            P.s..... yes perspectives can be tricky for the brain but in real life side on, still makes the prado look like a baby. dad asked the caravan guy, "so the prado will be able to to it?" the van man replied, "morally??....no but yes the tech specs etc.... yes."

                Hi mrfpv,
                Hey a beut rig but I would be thinking very seriously about fitting an exhaust temperature gauge (EGT) to closley monitor how hard your engine is working pulling the rig up steep inclines.
