  • Headlights on!!!!!!

I'm a regular traveler up and down the Stuart Highway and along a number of the dirt roads through the NT and SA. I notice that there is a distinct failure for many drivers to remember to have their headlights on at ALL times.

On the Stuart Highway a road train will inevitably overtake a caravan, and will be on the wrong side of the road for the best part of a minute. The truckie will make a split second decision to GO, and if you are 2km down the road with your headlights on, you'll be seen. No headlights.......well you might just find yourself in the dirt.

On dirt roads...It has always been my understanding that there is an "unwritten" rule that you have your lights on. With poor visibility through dust you will more likely be seen by oncoming traffic with lights on.

Don't whine about increased fuel consumption or blowing globes, just switch the lights on. Headlights, not parkers or daytime running lights ( those LED things are bloody useless), HEADLIGHTS!

And should you feel inclined, spread the word.

    Cheers
    Ben

    Sounds fair.

Can I ask, WTF? Are peeps thinking when it's getting dark & they switch their parkers on?
I think parkers are for parking, if its dark enough to turn the switch, turn it ll the way DUFUS

    SPread that too.

    Cheers

I too get annoyed at the number of people who travel particularly country roads without their headlights on.
