Need help locating an engine builder in Perth

Not Prado related sorry but I'm hoping someone in Perth may be able to hook me up with people they know in the V8 engine building community.

I recently had many thousands of $ worth of engine components and cash stolen by an engine builder here in Brisbane - nearly crippled us financially. Rumour has it he's fled to Perth.

If you know anyone in Perth big into V8s who associate with engine builders or those involved in speedway, drag racing or street/strip engine modifications could you let me know.

A long shot I know but worth pursuing I guess. Thanks

I would suggest that if you have reported it to the police they would be able to track the person via their rego/name.

You also have the electoral roll to try, though this could take a bit of time to update the persons name. (Depending on election years).

You should also probably try the local v8 forums, LS1.com.au, ford forums etc.
With as little info as you have supplied it is hard to track anyone, names and description of the persons activities are really needed. EG engine type, ford holden, Scenario of persons activities, eg registered engine builder or backyarder etc etc.
Does the person have an ABN, is it a legit business etc etc.

Bottom line, Police are easiest to track these people as they leave a paper trail 3 miles wide when moving states. BUt you need police auth to be able to access the databases.

All good suggestions there and I've been down all of those roads.

The matter was reported to police as far as a year ago and both I and others affected spent the next 6 months prompting them to take various action. In this case it even took a month to get them to search a storage container we discovered the grub had been storing engine parts in. Underwhelming really.

Police have done all of the standard searches and come up with nothing so far. He's left all his details as at his former addresses including his ABN info, rego, electoral role etc - has left no trail.

There are some further searches the Police can physically do (such as mobile phone) but believe it or not vendors like Telstra charge a small fortune to search and release records to Police - the Commissioner must approve these costs and will not unless part of an investigation into serious crime (eg, sexual assault, murder, arson etc).

We've also had 3 investigators try to locate him and haven't been able to. I've found out more than both through various contacts in the motorsport industry. We've no doubt he's going to extreme lengths not to be found. It's not just me who's looking for him and all in there's hundreds of thousands involved!

Police not being able to locate him (within the search parameters they have it seems)... hard to believe I know but that's the consistent response from them.

I've been an member of the various V8 and dragster forums for many years but they've not turned up anything. I might try them again as it's been a little while since I last checked in.

I didn't intend to share all the info I have on him here in these posts as I didn't expect fellow PP'ers to go checking up for me but just refer anyone the might know in the industry. Should any introductions eventuate I'm then happy to provide any contacts everything I have/know.

For the record though his name is Mick Campbell, formerly or Pro Engines and Toca Performance here in SE Qld.

The old boy is in improved production at Barbagallos and I mix in drag circles a little. Will keep an eye out man. Good luck! It's scum like that that drag the reputation of the trade down. What sort of motorsport was he involved in or was it just general?

Fantastic, thanks Matt. He mixes it all up really but has a history in speedway, drag and some street performance to fill in the gaps. Tinkered in the Konica series a while back but I suspect did his dash there very quickly.

I'd say he'll be keeping his head down for a while, maybe working for someone else and doing mainly street work. He's pretty arrogant though and I doubt he'll be able to keep his mouth shut about how great he his for too long. Not an uncommon characteristic for his kind! Thanks again.
