  • What UHF channel??

Following on from esie's PP sticker sighting... and my sighting of GeoffO on the gateway...

What UHF do most people flick to if they want to reach someone...???
It used to be UHF 11 was the call channel. Is it still 11 or should we make a PradoPoint call channel for those very situations.
    Cheers, Leon

if i've got the unit on in the city then 14, if i'm on the highway, then 40, but rarely on as the language can get a bit to colourful for the missus....

            well..

i doubt you will get a response..

UHF call channels like 40 and 11 are not the sort of thing anyone can leave on in thier car, unless you like to hear people talk about who they had sex with, or what person just cut them off and how they should be killed.

thats my opinion anyway.. I just use the UHF on trips, and switch it on only when i need to get past a heap of trucks or ask where the flash for cash is today.

I scan a range of frequencies and it is interesting that I only occasionally hear the rogue language... Maybe they are more chilled out here on the Gold Coast 8). When the language does become colourful, I temporarily remove that frequency from the scan.

These are the channels I scan:

              3 - Gold Coast Repeater
              5 - Emergency
              10 - 4WD Enthusiasts
              11 - Calling Channel
15 - My priority channel - you can get me here most times
16 with CTCSS - Blocks other conversations (used for family vacationing)
              29 - NSW Highway
              35 - Emergency
              40 - Highway

              64 (412.47) - Ambulance Gold Coast
              68 (469.15) - Police Gold Coast

I set my priority comms channel to 15 and use a CTCSS tone on 16. I use 16 when I am with the family, which ensures they don't hear other conversations; keeping their ears pure

When travelling, I will try to find any repeaters along the way and add them to my scan list.
