  • Best dates for 2009 Get Together?

OK this is just a general poll to see when people are most likelly to able to attend get together. The idea is to find the dates which will suit most people (If that's ever possible). And to find for how long most can get away...

I'm only new to the forum never owned (still don't mine on order) a 4x4 so a get together to learn, admire the rigs and gather some great idea's and more importantly put faces to names sound like a great idea.

Gets my vote an committment, spoke with her indoors she thinks it's a great oppurtunity too.

As long as I can get someone to cover for me at work, I should be good to go anytime.

Okay to accommodate as many people as possible I think it would mean forgoing Molly's Bash as we would need to look at the 01 to the 04 July 2009 timeframe which would mean that some people would need to take some non school vacation time.

We could still meet up at Old Andado Station just it will not be Molly's Bash time as that will be on the Labour Day weekend in May which is the 02, 03 and 04 of May 2009.

Not to worry as my side of the itinery works no matter when we select the date for kick off and I am sure LC120_mans Simpson Desert crossing can be scheduled to suite as well.

Perhaps we should also have a poll which indicates where the majority of people are coming from that feel they would attend, that way we could adjust the start dates to suite the majority.

Mav you should expect a few people who can come for longer and thouse who won't be able to... Most will have 14 days max total time to get there and back... So it will take approx 3-4 days to get to the Alice and 3-4 days to get back home... which leaves around 7 days to rest and tour around....

Yep I understand that part but the problem is that the states don't have their holidays at the same time or for the same length of time. NSW starts the latest being the 11 to 26 July, WA, ACT, and SA are the 4 to 19 July, Qld and Vic are the 27 June to 12 July, Tas is the 30 May to 14 June, NT is the 22 June to 17 July.

So the states and territories the align the closest are WA, SA, NT, Qld, ACT & Vic. The two that are out on their own are NSW and Tas. There are probably not going to be too many people wanting to come from Tassie if any. So it leaves NSW to contend with.

If we knew how many people were intending to come and from where they were coming then we could start to make some hard decisions on start dates to include as many people as possible.

Yes, NSW school holidays for 2009 are seriously out of sync with the rest of the country... What we need to find out is from which states and how many people who can only attend during schools holidays and work from there...

Well I got tentative approval! School hols (WA) would suit but probably not essential. Just realised, I'll be six months short of long service by then too!

Would prefer school holidays (SA), but we would be able to stretch our dates by up to a week so as to accomodate other states. 8)

QLD school holidays work very well for my family. I'll have to cnvince the kis(s) that a couple of weeks without their sufboards won't kill them!
