Best way to stop cans/drinks jumping around in a fridge.
Hi i am looking for the best way to limit cans and food jumping around in a fridge while driving. I was tbinking maybe a towel or something to limit the mount of free space bug i would like some ideas of what other people do.
Thanks
ESky content protection is indeed an important consideration, and we were not alert to it (and its easily to forget) until we were advised by the Bridsville Police Sergent, who advises travellers who are not prepared to put a thin pillow inside across the top of the contents of their esky/fridge, else bottles, even cans etc will be broken or rubbed through by the movement of crossing the many sand dunes in the Simpson.
We used a cut down to size piece of a thin, high density, very flexible non absorbant yoga mat type material, and just layed that snugly on top of the fridge contents, and then put a small towel on top of that. We also used the plastic egg carriers you get from a camping store, and the eggs survived intact. The only breakage we had was when a dingo snuck into camp and took a plastic container of oats...the only container that was not secured in the car or in a box overnight, and it ate the plastic container and oats...the lot...its probably still constipated.
I recall seeing some can covers made of neoprene material (like snug fit stubby holders) somewhere. That might help with protecting cans of drink but otherwise what Brogers and DSS150 have said are good suggestions.
Two rubber bands around each can stops them rubbing together and wearing thru the can. We don't put glass bottles in either fridge. Wine bottles in neoprene sleeves and in old coke bottle crate works a treat. We also use empty cask water bladders and inflate to fill the gaps in the top of the fridge. Cheap and adjustable!!
stubbystrip is good if that is all you are carrying. We tend to pack the cold food in containers and leave them in there even when the contents have been consumed.

I take cans on long corrugated trips instead of glass beer, so they can be squashed down in bin bag, and put some elec tape around each and every can top and bottom and back into carton for travelling. This will stop them rubbing through, and if you have too much room in your fridge just put more beer in!!!

Just punch out the bottom of stubby holders and put each can in one. They stack down well when empty.
