  • Nissan Navara VS Toyota Prado ?

Hi, i'm driving 2006 Toyota Prado JDM version with petrol engine,
it's been 2 year and the car serve me quite well apart from slight cabin noise when the road is not too smoth.
i drrove normally on road and sometimes gravel ,but very seldom off road.

Yesterday someone ask me to sell my prado to him with a high price of course (i basically didn't even lose a cent after riding it for 2 years!!! )
cause the prado is quite rare in my country and now the Japanese yenn is soaring up.

but i still don't know wheter to sell my beloved prado or not , the only complaint is because petrol prices in my country is more than twice the diesel, thus i'm thinking to buy a diesel engine car,
prado diesel is not an option cause the price now is ridiculous in my country.
the only decent car in my mind is Toyota hilux vigo or Nissan Navarra

but i never own or drive a UTE before, so can anybody here tell me what the ride quality is like especially on the Nissan Navaarra 2.5 TDI ?

    thank you very much.

These two utes are not even in the same ball park as the Prado when it comes to ride quality, cabin comfort or NVH levels. While utes have come a long way in recent years they are still "work" vehicles with leaf springs in the rear which ride poorly when unladen.

Safety would be another thing to consider, No crumple zones in these two utes, and in the Australian market, airbags and abs are still options not standard.

While I'm not brand loyal I would say the Hilux has better build quality that the Navara.

Unless the price of petrol is sending you broke...keep the Prado... Besides where would you put your subwoofers in a ute??

Yep what Mick said, i drove a hilux petrol 4lt thinking it would not be much difference to the prado as i wanted to get one for me, wasn't even close.
Rougher, noiser, didn't like the dash layout as much, not in the same league, as for the navara took one for a test drive and the salesman drove it up the road and ask if i wanted to swap seats for a drive and i said don't bother i already don't like it.

Keep the Prado, you will not find a better 4wd on the market for the money.

is the navara rally that bad ?

the new navara in my country has those powerful 2.5TDi engine with 403 NM torque !!!
          and ABS+EBD Standard option
leather seat and leather steering wheel
interior was ok compared to hi lux , the Navara has more upmarket feeling,

but it still has leaf spring in the rear

in my country , you can buy 2 1/2 ltr of diesel for the price of 1 ltr petrol
some more my prado consumptions is about 6.5 km/l cause is traffic jam everywhere, for city driving i think it wont be so much different but for highway driveing i;m not sure about the navara or other ute ride quality.

Go and drive one is the only way you will find out.

I had a navara for work which had the mining spec flashers on a roof bar.

The gutters were made out of such thin metal the mounting point for the roof rail broke off !!!!

The only way the mine mechanic could fix it was by drilling holes through the roof and inner lining and bolting the roof bar on to the actual roof. You could see the nuts from the inside
"Ooops I just deleted the internet, lucky I was able to recover 99.7% of it out of the bin"
