  • Lowrange vs 4wdaction vs All for Adventure vs Unsealed4x4

Interesting times, certainly a lot of competition for the readers eyeballs now

What do people think about Roothy's new Lowrange venture, edition 1?
    https://lowrange.tv/

In a recent article Pat Callinan gave Roothy a serve about destroying tracks and unlock Australia in unsealed4x4.
    See here http://www.unsealed4x4.com.au/issue006/#35

Check out this funny video that has since been put up.

I must admit I gave up on 4wd action a long time ago with all the EMG one sided story's and adds.
I have been most impressed recently with Unsealled 4x4. For a free publication its right up there, some good articles and trips as well.
Don't mind some of the good trip info and scenery from the All for Adventure show as well.

    Cheers

The Roothy v Pat vid is funny. Had me chuckling anyway.

I read that article in unsealed when it came out. I did do a double take, he did give a bit of a serve.

Will be interesting to see if they can make a go of it without advertising dollars having a say or every shot having some kind of product placement in it. Most of the shows are guilty of it nowadays and its why I can't watch free to air tv anymore. They're turning into one long advert.

I wonder if they'll follow the old formula? - I was never a fan of some of the behaviour they encouraged in the later vids and its what is getting a lot of tracks closed IMO. I've heard rumours that the production crews ran through a week or two early to chop things up and make the tracks "more interesting". They could just be that - rumours.

(And I keep hearing idiots telling each other to "give it the berries" on youtube vids. Its driving me nuts. )

Pat was right though. They all drive like idiots and teach others to. Which destroys tracks and gets them closed.
But Pat isn't perfect either, he used a tree trunk protector as a winch extension strap and called it that.
I wouldn't buy any of them. Get better more relevant info that suits me and my vehicle here 👍

Its a multi million dollar industry that attracts people from all walks of life. Some of them should be ashamed at what they teach new comers and young people. Unfortunately the more rough and guts they make it selling their cheap crap, the more young wallets will spend what they don't have.

I respect Pat and his knowledge but his shows and vids are snooze worthy. I have a 4wd action e sub and given up reading them. I've bought Roothys first DVD and loved it. Roothy makes it entertaining.

                        All right my turn,
This is one of those things that really gets my goat! Every time I see "Pat in the hat" ( Ohh I loved that Hitler vid, I was in tears ) calling himself Mr 4x4 in his perfectly clean shirt and hat promoting some product or another and driving down some track close to his hotel gets me shouting at the TV. Respect nil

As for 4x4 action watching/reading about a bunch of yobbo's being typical Australian yobbo's promoting yobberism? Well I can only handle so much....

Now having said that there is two lovable Aussie yobbo's that I must watch each week to get my fill of camping, fishing and four wheel driving action. Yes I'm a big fan of All 4 Adventure. In my lifetime there was only these few shows worth watching on TV. They were The Leyland Brothers, Malcolm Douglas, Les Hiddins, Ben Cropp and now All 4 Adventure. Oh and the original DR Who.

Now for the best reading mag, for you guys who have'nt read 4wd Touring Australia you are missing the one and only magazine worth the money you pay for it. Carlilse Rogers is one of the best modern day writers with a penman ship to rival Shakespear. Make sure you read the editorial letter he writes at the start of each mag, it will make you realise on a fundamental level what it is about getting away from society and why we long to go camping.
And as for the photography, well you judge for yourself. The only mags I've actually kept and won't give away.
                        Cheers Gaz

I really don't watch read any of them anymore, I especially won't have anything to do with anyone who was or is associated with 4wd action as they lost my respect a long time ago.

I prefer to actually get out and learn from real people on the tracks, you can learn more around the campfire in one night with a well travelled couple then you can in a month of Sundays watching and reading these things.

                          Cheers Andrew
