  • Can you convert Gas back to Petrol?

    Hi,
I foolishly converted our 2002 Prado to Gas (duel fuel) a few years ago and while it is fine for running around town, it is too unreliable and short range for any long distance driving. I have just driven back from Georgetown, unable to use gas, and so had to stop at nearly every fuel station we passed for the 1800 or so km back home!!! We bought the car new, and have otherwise had no problems with it so don't really want to sell it but wondered if we can put the main fuel tank back on and get rid of the gas. Anyone else tried this?

should be easy , hardest part will be removing the wiring from the ecu that tells the petrol injections to shut off , your fuel gauge wiring is the same , I dont know if you need another mod plate /remove mod plate, im sure queen$land tran$port will want some dollars for this to happen , have you have problems with the system ? we have a similar setup and get 350km from the LPG on the highway, plus the sub tank gives adequate range , around town the range on LPG is about 280km

Thanks. It sounds like it might be a possibility then. We get about the same mileage from our tank as you. The trouble is I just can't count on it. When it works it's fine, but twice now when I've been out bush it has played up so I can't count on having that extra mileage. Also availability of gas is pretty patchy out bush.

        Gas is for taxis.

        Sorry you converted it.

It can all be undone, have you got the old fuel tank?, etc, you will need that.
