  • Where do you put your rubbish?

Up till now my centre console housed a "little bitty bin" with lid for general rubbish and it worked well, but I have just adopted mjrandom's idea in the "Little Things" thread, and now have the centre console sorted with plastic "mini crates".

    http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic.php ... &start=105

But one solution creates another drama, and I detest finding squashed bananas in the "ash trays" of the kids' doors

Anybody know any good rubbish solutions/know of any good rubbish bins/ products which suit the Prado? Had a quick look on ebay but no good.

    Simmo,
I have seen a product by Michelles Saxs which hangs on the rear spare wheel, however, I have also seen a childs school bag/packpack wrapped over the rear spare wheel for the same purpose. I think this one is the best as it is cheap, recycles bags rejected by the whipper snappers and removes the rubbish to the rear. A trail of smell at worst, a convenient new space at best. The shoulder strapes go around each side of the wheel and either cross behind or have a zip tie that holds them together.

    Anyone done this?

      Simmo,

I actually have a little plastic flip top bin that sits on the transmission tunnel directly behind the centre console. It was bought from one of those magazines that gets dropped at your door all the time, I think it was "Innovations" or something similar? (It was a Nanna gift)

This thing is actually useful and works a treat. I've taken it with me in my last three cars, and will be taking it with me to my Prado.

I'll try and take a pic of it and post it if you like....

      Cheers,
      AJ

Thanks AJ - that's what I am looking for.....

        I'll checkout Supercheap tomorrow too.

We get those innovations mags but I always mumble "bloody women's stuff" and leave it on the doormat for collection :?

I've used one of the Michelles Sacs 'Dirty Gear Bags' that you've talked about for years. There are other manufacturers of similar about, but the Michelles one has worked for me.

Nothing worse than a weeks worth of camping rubbish in a bag inside the vehicle, so outside is the way to go. I stick a garbage bag inside the sac. The next town or roadhouse we're in (which might be a week away), we drop the rubbish bag all tied up in a regular bin, and put a new rubbish bag in the sac.

Dirtracker and prado4x4 I see your point too.

I always buy the best quality gargage bags I can for camping but it's an uneasy thought knowing I've got 3 days worth of refuse in the cargo area and I'm still 200km from anywhere!

Doesn't seem to matter what quality you buy, it only takes one sharp tin can lid or broken glass to tear them

            thanks for the tips

The Michelle's Sacs bag is great.

We've used it to keep all of our wet boots when we went up to the High Country during the snow season last year.

Of course, wet clothes and swimmers at the beach is another good use. Very versatile, but remember to remove the hard spare wheel cover first...

Any extra storage helps in our "little" Prado...
