  • Prado dual tank question

    Hi guys,

    Just have a question about the dual tanks. I have the 2008 model 180L tanks.

    The first tank on the dash only goes to halfway before it switches on the green light for the 90L tank. Is that normal? I thought it would just make more sense if the needle pointed to empty on the first tank and then switched. Is something wrong with my fuel indicator?

          I have the 09 120. The system works this way as it treats the 180L as if it was one tank. From full down to half is about 90L used then it goes back to full and the 90L light comes on indicating there is 90L to go.

          You will get used to it, like others have said it normal.

              It makes even more sense when you consider some turkeys used to fill up when fuel was pretty cheap, and then keep topping up - so the 70 series and earlier Prado's were just drawing from the one tank, and the other one wasn't being used much, if at all. So lower octane, more evaporation, less volatility and sometimes moisture build-up and even bio-growth...

              Deffo smarter to draw from both as equally as possible.

                Interesting note that every 20k the filter between the tanks is changed. Didn't even know there was one!
