How to remove 2014 facelift GXL multimedia player?

Hi,

Anyone knows how to remove the multimedia player (2014 GXL facelift model)? I want to add wire from a nose cam, but couldn't find any instructions.

yeah Ive got the nov 14 GXL with the head unit and the aircon below it with the storage pocket below it. Is that the one you are talking about and or post a pic of you dash. If it is the same I will talk you through it. Quick bit of advise, go to super cheap and buy the 4 piece door trim removal set. a plastic set of tools that will save you trashing your plastics.

Plastic credit cards/gift cards make handy trim removal tools as well, that's all I've needed for removing the console trims on my pre-facelift 150.

Hi Kaindog, that sounds great!
The idea is to install a front cam inside TOYOTA logo, so I can monitor ground situation while vehicle is climbing uphills.

So. To start with, you will need a circular saw and claw hammer.


Or, the plastic trim removal kit. I love those trim removers.

yeah just a warning on removing major components in the middle of the dash. just check your contracts that you have signed. the death till we part one may be invoked by the bride when she sees what your doing to the car. Anyhow the Air con is a casette and if you go to the left of the cassette and place a plastic trim removal tool at the top and the bottom. The picture only shows one at the top, use both. ( near the left dial. Lever it and it will pop. work your way along and pull it out. disconnect the plugs and sit it where you will not scratch or damage it. Then a look into the recess left will show you four 10mm bolts. out they come and then light out the rest of the whole unit. lay it on a towel to prevent it being damaged. any dramas then let me know and I will strip mine and picture it for you. Pics should be attached to the post.

also replacing the standard speakers with a set of half decent ones is real quick. and amping it up is not real hard. I have ordered the new plastics from China and will replace the head unit with a sony unit I have. will see how the plastics look when they get here and make a decision from there. tell you what I am pissed about. ARB fitted the Bull bar and made no effort at all with the wiring on the lights in the Bullbar. looks shit house. I don't think they realise that when I see that they make no effort then I think ,what else are they not making an effort on? have some pride.

I have ordered relays, diode, fuse, switch etc, the last piece will arrive about early March, will give it a crack from there.
