  • Picking up a Kakadu - floor model vs Pre-delivery model

    Hi all, new to this forum! We are picking up a new Kakadu and we really want silver but the silver is the floor model whereas white and graphite are pre-delivery (never been touched by the public). What would you pick?

    We are concerned about the silver floor model being touched and used by people climbing in and out and things like switches or battery being worn. We keep jumping back and forth because silver is the colour we want but we don't want the floor model. Are we being silly?!?!?! Worrying for nothing? Ta Em

        There will be no difference, the Floor model wont be registered unless it is a demo.
        The wear and tear on the switches would be non existent, it will be cleaned before delivery anyway and just check them all before you hand over the final payment.
        I would much prefer the colour of my choice and you will remember that long after i suggest.
        Maybe a few freebees or a discount on accessory's like matts etc.( but i presume you have done that already)

          Thanks guys! We got silver! We just kept changing our minds between white (nice) and graphite (the colour we really wanted but worried about scratches showing up more) and glad we got silver! Every car we have owned has been silver, its just our colour!

          Now to learn all about 4x4 and all the gear!

            Think it depends how picky you are. If it was me, I wouldnt get a floor model. People trash them on test drives and then you have scuff marks on most doors as people use their shoe to keep toe door open. My opinion!

              All my new cars have been demo or pre registered. Save over $10k on most brand new cars and come with full warranty and are delivered exactly the same as a new car. You don't have to even do the 1st service as its already done.

              My prado was different because it was bought site unseen via email through work.

                Order from factory is the lowest cost car to the dealer and therefore one on which dealer has most room to negotiate on price. Well tested rule and so far for me it was consistently cheaper than getting available demo models. Most expensive is the floor car which dealer will source from another dealer (transport cost and "favour/car swap" between dealers).

                  Kapitan interesting observation. I have found stock on the floor or stock due in I had more leverage. Order in and very little negotiation but that may have been because it was outside the dealer allocation.

                    I ordered in a Celica on a lease once and when I went in to finalise the payment I found it sitting on the showroom floor. I wasn't too impressed at the time but there were no issues with the car at delivery.

                      car yards keep 99% of there stock out in the weather and the night lights attract birds / bird shit . being someone that parks undercover at work and home that would be a large factor for me

                        Agree, because they have a sale they don't care as much, if on the showroom floor or stock they want to get rid of car asmuch as possible.
