  • Best Tinting?

I've just bought a Facelift GXL and am currently looking at getting darkest legal (Octane) tint from TintaCar... Thoughts, experience?

I always use solar tint. Quite happy with them.

Got mine done there, no probs. Bit of a difference btw front and rear windows but its the best they can do with it still being roadworthy.

I'm getting all the windows done, did you just go the Front ones nanbar? Or does the Privacy glass just cause issues?

Fronts have to be a less % of tint to be roadworthy the rears can now be a lot darker than they used to be........I had all mine done to the same tint level which from memory was 24% but i'm not sure on that figure.......Basically mine is un-roadworthy but living in Darwin I think most peoples would be.......they need to be a little extra dark here for it to make it worth while doing.

          Can I still play now I have a 200 series?........Had a 2008 120 Series D4D Manual 6 Speed...STANDARD White, Soverign Bar..........Rear Cage........Dashmat.......GX Wheels with Good Year Dura Tracs........Bilstein/Dobbo 2'' lift.....Safari Snorkel....Canvas Seat Covers.....20%tint..........55W HID Headlights.....Mudmats front and rear.....
          22'' Lightbar......

            SolAce Octane

Got Octane from SolAce. Looks good, close match (but not the same as rear windows of VX).

Issue - interferes in a major way with a GME handheld CB when used inside of the vehicle. in 2010 I got a different tint for Prado 150 GXL and there was no interference (same handheld unit). Don't remember which version of tint I got then (both same level of tint - darkest legal for NSW).

Interesting to hear that . My front tint matches my rears and I have poor reception with my hand held GME .

Metallic tint films will affect your reception, but they will last the best in our hot sun.

I have t16 on the front two and t35 over privacy on the rears, looks great and keeps the car cool.

I go to a place in Perth called TKO Tinting. Has done my previous 3 cars. Yet to get the 150 tinted but he said he has done a couple already and has matched the tint with the privacy glass.

                      Hi Kav
Have you tried the radio with the windows down?
I've got solar screens in the rear cargo area, have just purchased a GME TX675 yet to put it to any real test.
                      Cheers

                        Thanks guys,
I ended up going with TintaCar in Alexandria, Sydney. Got Octane on the front windows and the clear UV film on all the privacy glass. Matches really well and looks good.

How much did you pay for the whole vehicle? Did you get a price for their F1 tint?
D4D. How long will it last?

Early this year I got Tint-A-Car to put the darkest legal tint on my new 150.

Not sure if this applies to other states, but something to remember in VIC...

                            1) If your car comes with Privacy glass you cant add Tint to it as it will make it illegal. Only clear UV film can be applied to privacy glass section only.
                            2) You cant do an exact match or darker tint to the front windows to what your privacy glass is... it will be too dark
                            3) If your vehicle did not come with factory Privacy glass you can not tint it the same darkness as the vehicle that came with privacy glass. - another words cars with no privacy glass will always have a lighter tint when doing it legal, but it will be even shade from front to rear
