  • Problem with speed dial on car fitted with bluetooth and 165

Just purchased the F165 and have a problem with speed dial on Prado.

With my previous mobile I had speed dial nos set 1-6 on radio and the first time I selected No 1 in the speed dial , using bluetooth, it rang my home telephone number which was not in the speed dial .

Later rang a friend by dialing on the F165 and using vehicle bluetooth and got through to him no problems.

Later dialled Speed dial no 1 and got my friend again though he is not listed in the 6 speed dial entries.

Decided to delete all the speed dial nos and start again.

Tried both 1 and 2 on the new speed dial numbers and each time got my friend who i had rung previously by dialling direct.

It appears that the speed dial numbers (1 and 2 at least) are acting as a redial function.

Any clues as to the problem and is it the vehicle's bluetooth or the f165.

I think I know the reason for problem but don't have the book to confirm.

When I press the speed dial button 1 it brings up the name of the person i want to call.
I then hit the green button to make the call.

When I read the F165 book by hitting the green button this dials the last number called (redial).

I don't have the book covering radio etc and am not sure if above is the correct procedure for using speed dial.

If anyone can tell me the correct way to make speed call would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Does it have voice dialling, i always use that, much easier, also you can dial anyone.

        Hutch,
never heard of Voice Dialling, will investigate.
        LATER.
        Voice Dialling "No"

As a matter of interest, how does it work on your unit?

You can press one of the buttons, it goes into voice dialling mode and you say who you want to call, Ie i say"home" as that is what is programmed and it will dial the number, that simple. You can voice dial any name programmed into the phone.

            Pedro,

On all the new Telstra Next G mobiles (as far as I know anyway) speed dials 1 to 3 are preset and cannot be changed. Try setting up your speed dials starting at 4.

I don't know much about using the radio in Prados with phones (I've never done it) though.

SW, that is what I have done.

As a matter of interest I posted the same question on the Zte forum and thread can be viewed at http://zte.com.au/ztebb/viewtopic.php?t=461&highlight=

You will note they are going to check out with a friend's Prado, so something might come of my question.

In the meantime I have set the speed dial from 4-9 on phone.
Not as good as the bluetooth on radio but at least something.

Wish phone had the Voice calling that would be even better

                  Hutch,
I bought the 165 because of all the reports on reception in the bush.

While I was in Telstra shop a bloke who drives ahead of wide loads got talking to me and he confirmed how good the 165 was outback.

My son uses one out Roma way and probably this swayed me in selecting the 165.
