  • A Troop Carrier Campertrailer Setup..... Fantastic Idea !!

Through my little Day drive yesterday, I came across with fantastic setup that this fella had. He wasn't there so I couldn't chat with him but he had chopped off teh rear section of a Troopy and converted it into a Campertrailer set-up..... Has anyone seen anything like this before??? If I had the talent & Skill, I'd love to do something like this.....

    Here's some photos:

That would be a great set up.
You would not have a problem with storage thats for sure.

Saw something similar years ago when I built my trailer another guy did this with a Hilux back and canopy. Was a bit heavy and such a blunt forward face added lots to fuel consumption. Was cheap though, the tub was free and he picked up the canopy for little more.

I've always thought about a dual cab 70 with a roof top tent on the back of the tray. Wonder if you could squeeze a camper top on?

Fantastic, really looks the part. The concept I guess is similar to the Drifta Offroad tourers which I think are excellent. Really like all the Drifta gear as well. I'd get one of Luke's Dot Campers in a heartbeat if I had the coin:http://www.drifta.com.au/dot-6-army-green/. Still if you have the skills and time it's a great idea.

Just can't store one of those modern C.T's with a large footprint (as I've no yard). Thanks Rob for sharing the pics.

I often toyed with the idea of converting a troopy or ute+canopy. Like most, do not possess the skills (nor bank balance) to make it happen.

Even thought about retaining the fuel tank to save on jerrys....

Agreed.... the fuel capacity would be great...... Just would need a big car to tow it though....

Why not just buy a off road camper trailer and get a decent bed and a kitchen.

If you have $25k+ to spare you could get one of these new campers only 900kg for the off road setup www.opuscamper.com.au
