On the 6/03/15, I had a Steinbauer Chip installed along with a 3" Taipan at what I can only assume is a very reputable business that has a long standing history with diesel fuel injector replacement, chips, dyno and exhaust's.
So given the reputation of this business I went there and had the work done. The engine output went from 89kw to 107kw, a modest improvement as the Prado is not a racing car, but every now and then needs a bit more power.
All excited with the improvements, I was driving home, just monitoring everything to see if I could notice any difference, it certainly appeared to driver better, but I did notice one concerning change and that was a vibration coming from the engine bay that had not previously been there, whilst stationary at traffic lights, the motor started to vibrate. The best example that I could give to describe the feeling is when a old, say Holden red motor, has a mild race cam fitted and the engine becomes lumpy thus causing the vibrations.
I immediately called the business at which point I was told that it may be the fact the new exhaust may take a while to seat as it may need time to match up with the exhaust manifold and to give a week. But being a bit worried I have been monitoring the situation, worried that the motor will blow up or worse, (probably a bit dramatic I know). I have noticed that it is only when waiting at the lights with the air conditioner on does it start up again, turn the air conditioner and the problem goes away.
So does anyone have any idea's as to what it could be, ultimately I will be speaking with the company this week coming and asking the question, but I sort of got the cold shoulder last time, being told that it happens but normally most people don't notice, which makes me think this is not normal, but it always sounds better when you ring up not to get the run around because you may be able to identify a likely reason for the problem, rather than sounding like a complete novice with no idea.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, as to the likely cause.
