I probably biased but in any case, had a 1993 80 Series GXL before by Prado. Bloody bullet proof vehicle and never had a problem with it. Sold it with 207,000km at xmas time, bought it in 2003 with 100,000km. Still drove like the day I got it, bloke I bought it off said it still drove like when he got it new. No rattles, solid door closure, loved it. If my 2014 Prado GXL D4D turns out to be half as good a truck, I will be rapt.

Can I say all of them

Honestly though, if I could buy a "new" 100 series with the 4.2TD I would be in like Flynn. I think that marked a point at which the balance between comfort and performance and reliability was at its best. With everyone wanting more power and less fuel use, and more Gizmo's I think the balance has got out of whack.

I could also go a Cruiser Ute as well

      Cheers Andrew

The Last of the TD 80series would be the ideal, but other than that, the last of the 100's Factory TD Wgn would suit my needs now. The engine is the last of the reliable ones I reckon b4 all CRD versions. If I ever get annoyed with our 150's (to date its been a great vehicle) I'll be returning tothe past to head into the Future with.....I'd modify/strengthen a couple of things, but I reckon it suit me for a long time......

Around Sydney it seems to be the 80 or 100 series. They're always getting stolen

I could be tempted by a 48 Cantius.

X2 for the last of the 100 series. Funny how the second hand market has the 100 worth more than a similar km 200.

Didn't the early 100s have torsion bar front end?

For the nostalgia of it all I would love one of the original FJ21 bought over by Thess for the Snowy Hydro project.
For all out awesomeness I would love to find a good condition original 40th anniversary HDJ80 manual, preferably in dark blue.

I have in the past owned a early FJ42 Ute, with 3 speed manual box, drums front and rear and swinging door handles. Unfortunately the rust got the better of this old girl and she currently is living out her days as a farm ute. Still working hard and as reliable as the day she was new (well almost)

A FJ61 also passed through my hands very briefly, had 350 chev and was a dog, best not talked about.

Last car before the Prado was a HZJ80 DX, vinyl floors, no frills, great reliable and reasonably comfortable. Had it been a GXL or higher and factory turbo I would still have it. Just running a bit low on power and not quite as nice on the inside as we wanted for touring.

All 100 had torsion bar front, 105 had live axle.

If it was factory turbo or V8 it was torsion, if it was NA diesel or 6cyl petrol it had a live axle. That is what we got delivered here in Australia anyway

Yes.... early ones had a bit of a weakness in the front lower arms but was easily fix.... Then there was the weak front diffs in all 100/105's cruisers and again, this was fixable too I believe...

I would love to own a 100 series with the 1hd in it.

Alternatively i would own a geniune 80 series td with the multivalve engine.

Always thought about converting a prado to a 1hd don't know if it possible. At work at the moment the boss owns an 80series sahara and we are currently converting to a 1hd from a 1fz.
