Hubb Lifetime Oil Filter

Just stumbled across this bit of kit. Might be an idea/type of product that has been around for a while, but it's news to me.

As far as I can tell they are only available in the US at $89, but if the stats of 99% efficiency at removing oil contaminants at 25 microns, improves oil flow by 5 times, reduces carbon emissions by 30% and doubles the oil change interval (would obviously vary from vehicle to vehicle) while also being easily cleanable then I can see them catching on over here also. Plus the stainless steel finish is a nice touch!

I've sent them an email regarding diesel engine testing/Oz pricing but haven't heard back yet.

What are your thoughts?

I considered one of these... we sell a similar product at work and in the end I just figured it wasn't worth the money but then again ours are more expensive and i have a 5vz-fe so naturally have a much cheaper oil filter.

I don't quite get how a finer filter can extend change intervals. Also on top of that, just because the contaminants are fewer after awhile doesn't mean the detergents haven't broken down and are no longer cleaning as they should.

That's my perception and am not an oil expert or a mechanic lol

Oil and filters are not that expensive.........Use them change them throw them.

The cost of a filter and oil is about 1/3 to quarter of the price you pay when you fill your vehicle with fuel..........

These type of filters maybe good i'm not sure but I know when I have a new genuine filter fitted and an oil change i'm not wondering what is happening or questioning my self have I done the right thing is that filter ok and is that oil still good..

Not worth the hassle IMO.
