GVM upgrade would be nice too!

What I read in 4x4 Monthly the max towing will be up to 3300kg but this may be at a reduction in GVM. So total GCM may be much the same.
My prediction would be drivetrain upgrade with a couple of VX/Kakadu features drip fed down to the GXL like LED DRL and auto lights etc.

The Fortuner (think Hilux Surf) is coming too potentially and I wonder how that will fit in? .
Can't be called class leading with engine output like that but definitely a step in the right direction. The Pajero has had that output since 2010 and the current Grand Cherokee has fit/finish and engine output in a cost effective product that Toyota needs to match or become a second level player

A jeep may perform well once, but not every day. To much reliability issue with motor over heating etc. I perfer a second rate reliable car then a car at the pointy end of its ability and suffer with failures

I know three individuals who all bought jeeps, various models including wrangler and GC and within 6 months all three are speaking ill of the brand.

I hate to say it to them, but "I told you so".

And I've just purchased a new GXL, pick it up next week. Hope I don't regret waiting a couple of months.

150 Series August 2015 engine and gearbox update

                  This just came in: http://ninemsn.carsales.com.au/news/...n-august-51034

Looks like a new diesel engine for the Prado will remain as a 4-pot offering, and not a V6.

If Toyota continues along the same strategy of sharing a diesel power plant between the Hilux and the Prado, then this means the August 2015 Prado will feature a 4-cylinder 2.8 litre diesel motor (code name 1GD-FTV), along with a 6 speed auto.

More info on the 1GD-FTV: http://www.bangkokpost.com/auto/news...gines-revealed

Here's the specific paragraph mentioning the changes
Update, May 11: Sources have advised motoring.com.au that the Prado will ditch its current 3.0-litre turbo-diesel for the same 2.8-litre four-cylinder that’s slated for the next HiLux. Toyota will also drop the current five-speed automatic for a six-speed transmission in the Prado – also believed to be on offer in the next HiLux. Little else is known at this stage, other than the GXL gaining satellite navigation as standard, and the Kakadu scoring rear-cross traffic alert.

That Bangkok post link has the torque of the 2.8 litre 1GD-FTV at 450Nm. Which is more than the 410Nm of the 1KD in the 150 series. So can't be all bad

Sounds like its a drop in engine replacement to get a few more killer wasps and torques for less juice, and a trickle down of features from higher models. Nothing worth getting your knickers in a twist over, and a bit off the Grand Cherokee's donk @ 550Nm

"The Prado’s current 3.0-litre diesel produces 127kW and 410Nm, meaning the updated model would get a 5kW/10Nm boost in manual form and a bigger 5kW/40Nm increase with the new auto if the HiLux’s engine was dropped directly into its engine bay without any changes
