    Hi All

    I thought I'd start a new thread relating to Injector results as opposed to adding to the "Working Ebay Techstream" topic.

    So, I managed to get Techstream working and got the follow Injector values. Refer to attachments.

    My Prado is a 2008 GXL D4D, 0802 build date.

    What I would like to know is my injector 3 appears to be getting close to the mentioned working limit of +/-3.0, in my case it was -2.2 in the first 60 second of the engine running. Approx 10 minutes later when the engine is warm injector 3 pulls back to -0.7.

    So what is the importance of the cold test as opposed to operating temp for the injectors. I'm assuming since my injector 3 pulled back to -0.7 from -2.2 that it's ok. Should it remain, for example -2.2 cold and stayed at -2.2 warm that there would be a problem with injector 3?

    Is this a correct assumption?

    I'll leave it to those with more experience to diagnose, but from what I can see your injection volume is also high so keep an eye on it.
    Are you hearing the dreaded rattle in the morning when the engine is cold? If so, get it looked at ASAP.

    I've read that from approx +/-2.5mm3 onwards you will experience the rattle but I know from my own that it not always the case.

    Perhaps run it again and record the cold results at 2mins and again when at operating temps and see what you get.

      The injector volume is high as I have a DPChip installed, I installed it a year after buying the Prado new. I don't have the dreaded rattle...as yet fingers crossed!

      I've pretty much watched the injector value up to the 12 minute mark, like i said earlier it started at -2.2 and pulled back to -0.7, I'm assuming it's ok?

      Looking at some of the values from other forum members, it looks to be Injector 3 being the achelles heal?

        You are right keeping an eye on it. Not replacement time yet but I would be watching and listening to those injectors. All is good, for now.....

          The values will change as the engine warms up. That is normal operation. When they start to remain around the +- 2.5 then it's getting time to change them out. Toyota and some mechanics will say that +-3 (someone even reported a dealer suggesting +-5) is fine but these readings need to be read in conjunction with the total volume which should reduce as the engine warms. Your values look fine, including the volume at the 12 minute mark. I had one injector jump from 2.3 at start to almost 2.7. I had the new injectors ready to change so did it pronto.

              My Readings are as follows

              120 D4D (December 08 Build)

              Cold Start (engine temp @ 31 degrees for readings)
              Injection Volume: 12.94
              Inj 1: -1.1
              Inj 2: 0.3
              Inj 3: 1.5
              Inj 4: -1.3

              Warm Engine (83 Degrees)
              Injection Volume: 6.60
              Inj 1: -1.9
              Inj 2: 0.7
              Inj 3: 2.3
              Inj 4: -1.6

              These readings are from November last year so I'm due to do them again.
              I get no cold knock or rattle but these warm figures do bother me.
              most people's from what I can see start with high injector volumes then decrease.
              mine does the opposite.

              Is it the warm or cold readings that dictate getting them replaced?

                Its probably a combination of hot, cold and any possible symptoms to get to that decision.

                Certainly I'd do the test again, record the cold (2 minute) numbers and take it for a good run to warm it up for the hot numbers.
