  • How to post pictures so they show up directly in the post

    Hi,
Could be a silly question, but how can I post pictures so that they load up straight away when viewing a thread. At the moment I am putting links to pictures that I have uploaded to a website that I have, so people need to click on the link in the thread to see the picture. I would like for the pictures to load up without users needing to click on the link.
    Thank you
    Borec

    • click "Go Advanced" button
    • Click the "Insert Image" button (tree picture)
    • Choose "From URL" option
    • enter link
    • Click OK

I just load up photos to photobucket and once loaded you have a number of options for creating links etc. If you just copy and paste the URL option straight into your post the photo should be visible in the text. You may have to reduce the size of your photo before uploading otherwise it may be oversize.

Ok thanks guys, lets see if this works, no it does not.. file too large (was 600kB). Or it is not about size in kB but rather in pixels and needs to be max 800x600
What is the size limit, if anybody knows, before I start trial and error.
              Cheers

This is what I do using http://postimage.org/

Just go to Post image, and browse your computer for your picture, select the family safe option and select size to 800x600, after the first time my computer remembers this and don't need to do it again.

After you have uploaded your image you will get a number of URL's to choose from, if you select "thumbnails for forums (1)" and copy and paste the URL into the thread you get a thumbnail like this, people can click on that for the full size image.

Or you can select "hotlinks for forums (1)" and paste the URL in to the thread and you get this

                  20mb image hosting

When you do that you get a bit of text under the picture (text varies), you can just delete that text from the URL to get this

                  Cheers Andrew

Been wanting to ask this for a while.
AJ120, the 2nd and 3rd thumbnails take me to the post image home page: http://postimg.org/ i.e. no pictures. I've just created an account, but still the same.

The second and third pictures aren't thumbnails, they are the full size (resized) picture, they are not meant to be a link.

I have never created an account for postimage, you don't need an account to do what I do, maybe I should though, it might be better.

                        Cheers Andrew
