  • 80 series, 4.5l petrol fuel economy... or lack thereof.

    Hi all,
How thirsty would a 1994, heavily modified 80 series auto cruiser be?
Saw a second hand one the other day and looks like fun 😎 ... but I suspect it would be uneconomical as a daily driver

There's no such thing as a wrong turn... it's just the scenic route!

20 ltds per hundred would be pretty standard i think.
Towing would beef that figure up too!
HERS - KZJ120, BILSTIEN / KINGS, AMTS GEAR, RHINO GEAR, OUTBACK DRAWERS ETC ETC ETC
MINE - HDJ78 RV TROOPY. 1HDFTE. TWIN FACTORY LOCKERS. STEINBAUER POWER. OME LIFT. BEAST.

I sold my 100 series petrol/lpg 12 months ago to get my 150 and I was getting 400km/90ltrs of lpg which equals 22.5L/100km and that was empty, when I towed my 17foot caravan I would get 30L/100km.

Dual Fuel or just Petrol? I had 94 80 series (duel fuel and auto) before the Prado and it was a shocker. It started off ok when it was on straight petrol but got worse after the LPG conversion. Upwards of 21L/100km on petrol around 35L/100km on LPG.

My 80 series manual petrol RV model, with a number of extras, was a bit thirsty (remember about 16 l/100 km on the country roads when driven sedately on one occasion - that did not last too long as I could not put up with that sort of driving) so the figures would have been way past that with my normal driving. Was fun to drive, just knocked it down to 3rd gear to overtake and off it went.

It was 17 years old when I sold it to buy the 150.

Hmm... Doesn't look like its a daily driver by those figures
It's got muddies, 3" lift and all the fruit so I best look the other way lol!
Having said that... I doubt there's anywhere it couldn't have gone!
            Thanks guys
