  • Rhino rack - New Max Trax mounting option

    Hi all,

Just thought I would send you a link to the new max trax mounting option offered by Rhino.

    http://www.rhinorack.com.au/products...bracket-_43158

A little over the top in $ if you ask me and I personally think you are better off supporting a fellow prado point member and buying the TraxRax option from CraigM. I can vouch for the TraxRax, they are great.

Ps I receive no commission from TraxRax in making this statement.

ahhh - But those 4 peices of flat bar are "engineered". Hence the price.

Very happy with my TraxRax... Also no commission but would be very happy to take some Craig....

They take up way too much room and can only be used on the 2nd normal size plank in from the side.
      Go the TraxRax, hands down.

Rhino rack - New Max Trax mounting option

Agree with amts, take up valuable space on the rack & I assume you would have to remove them to use rack when camping. Traxrax also accessible from the ground without climbing your vehicle

Ps. Not affiliated with traxrax in any way but am willing to participate on beer for comment exercise at next steak night.

Rhino really are going stupid with their pricing on some accessories for the pioneer system. $150 for what is essentially 4 bits of flat bar and some nuts and bolts? They have got to be kidding! It really isn't a flexible way of mounting them either, takes up a lot of space on the rack and they can only be mounted one way. The brackets Tin made up are a much better design for those of us who can't use Craig's TraxRax. Pradopoint 4wd accessories shop for the win!

Wow pay through the nose for the Rhino one. I thought they might have made something to go into the slots in the rack bed. Looks like someone had some odd bits left over and decided to make something.
                +1 for TraxRax

Unless your a short arse like me :-)

Traxrax are still heaps more accessible than the Rhino brackets, mine mount up fine on the Pioneer platform and I can still lay gear over top of the T piece where it slots into the platform. Have also seen the Raptor Racks advertised but they look fiddly, not a nice 1 piece design like the Traxrax.

ARB sell another system for mounting which will bolt to anything, much more substantial than this, and cheaper. But basically the same outcome only you don't need and Rhino gear.

I'll stick with my home made ones that cost only a few dollars and have stood the test of time

Only seems to allow North South mounting, versus East/West. Pretty boring really.

Gotta work out how the max trax are going to fit on mine, awning one side, rooftop opens out the other side, not much room for TraxRax. I will have to have a chat with you at the next steak eatting session, I've got an idea in my head but that's as far as I have gotten. Just going to strap them to the spare under the bin bag for the Cape I think.

Well you've got the rear carrier so that makes sense as the extra weight on the back wont be an issue. I take it you're using a MAXTRAX rear wheel Harness?

I have my version that mounts above the awning
