  • DIY dual led switchable battery meter, how to wire the switch...

Ive got a bit of a plan to install an LED Volt Meter with a switch so i can either display Main or Aux voltages..

Ive got a 2 wire LED meter and a 7 pin Carling ON Off On DPDT switch....

That's as far as I've got...I'm a bit stumped on the pin wiring on the switch...Anyone care to enlighten me...

    Cheers

The positive from each of the battery goes to the outside pins of your rocker switch (you would need to post the wiring diagram of the switch to determine which pin to connect to). Then the common pin goes to your volt meter +ve. Then -ve from the voltmeter goes to chassis ground.

    Edit: According to this diagram

Pin 4 and 6 should be from each battery's +ve and pin 5 should be to the volt meter.

i would advise you to also put a fuse as close as possible to each of the batteries.
0.5 amp this will protect the wiring and switch in case there is a problem

          Roger that....

Input from the Aux will be from the small fuse box mounted next to the battery, input for the main will be via fused wire from the main fuse box...
