Bought a Baintech VCR last month. Knowing enough about electronics myself, I opted to save myself about $900 installation labour and do it myself. Purchased the unit, along with required cables, lugs, fuses and fuse holders from Battery World.
However, discovered that the wiring diagram on the VCR package is totally different to the wiring diagram on the enclosed installation sheet and that the instructions on the installation sheet are inconsistent with either diagram and indeed, they are even contradictory and unsafe.
Contacted Baintech and instead of getting an apology for the terrible documentation, was blamed for having purchased a product some 2.5yrs out of date!!!
So, recommendation is to contact the supplier of your battery isolator to see if there are any updates to the installation instructions and wiring diagrams before starting your install...just to be safer. I've provided Baintech with my 2c worth of wisdom on how they can improve their documentation, but only seemed to be interested in protecting themselves by saying that there had been some internal bun fighting over the instructions and diagrams instead of issuing updates to all their retailers, etc.
Note, I'm not bagging the Baintech VCR product. But there seems to be some very old product out there with dangerous instructions and inaccurate installation instruction and circuit diagrams.
