Towing weight - bit more explanation

Hi,

I got my boat weighed over the weekend. The guy told me the boat weighed:

2.2 On the car
2.04 Off the car
160Kg on the tow ball.

I am new to this and just want this explained a little more. Assuming the tow ball weight (160) + trailer off the car = 2.2 On the car.

I don't get how it weighs less when it's off the car?

The 2040kg refers to the boat/trailer axle load (ie the jockey wheel was on the ground and not the weighbridge plate.)

He would have weighed the ball weight separately with just the jockey wheel on the weighbridge plate.

Looks like it weighs 2200 in total and that includes a 160 ball weight - he's confused you with they way he's explained it but don't worry it definately doesn't weigh less when its off the car!!
