Getting a bargain at the 4x4 Show

Since I havent been before, I figure that many here have.

Going to go down for a look on the saturday or sunday & was wondering if anyone has any tips about getting good bargains - or if they even exist?

I have a bit of cash saved to hopefully snag a fridge & was wondering if its worth trying to get one at the show?

Although I find it always pays to do your homework. Some of the Waeco's when on special at BCF and Anaconda can be priced pretty well.

I picked up my Evakool fridge for a good price at a Caravan and Camping show in Yarrawonga.
I'd do plenty of research before committing to anything (your phone and google are very handy when wandering an expo) - just to make sure you're getting an actual bargain.

Yeah thats the one.
Im going to go down for a look at all the things I cant afford, but hopefully I can get a good deal on a fridge.
I know you can get the waeco cfx 50's delivered for $1k & 4wd superstore had a deal on the other week for a 50, fridge slide & cover for $1300 which I was too slow to act on.
So hopefully someone down there may part with a similar deal?

I always wanted an evakool due to the high level of insulation but couldn't make it fit behind the cargo barrier.

Yeah thats one thing im liking the sound of the cfx 50 - its got the same footprint as a lot of smaller ones but its just a bit higher so will fit easily.

How do you find the evakool?

No issues thus far. I have the previous Glacier 50. It fits behind the 2nd row seats lengthways no worries. If I want to open the lid all the way, I have to slide the seats forward 1 notch and move the fridge toward the front about an inch.

The fridge keeps the temperature its set to fairly well and doesn't use too much power. Evakool's customer service is great. I had a couple of issues when I first got the fridge home (all my fault - not reading the book properly) and they helped me greatly.

Don't expect any discounts at the show, only 'show specials' which aren't that special.

i brought a waco when anaconda had a sale and when i went to the 4x4 show in melb 2014 i didn't see one cheaper. when your at a 4x4 show and the sales person will say its a show special never believe them jump on google and have a quick sniff for a better price just incase there trying to stiff you.

Agreed, Google is your friend when at the show. Used it for everything at our local show to get better prices. A number of show specials had special additions - but only to the price

Every time I have been the most seems to be about a 10% discount of the RRP, most of the larger chains that are mentioned above usually sell below this for the most part. You never know though and it would be worth a try!!

I got a Waeco from Rays Outdoors. It came with another smaller cooler and heaps of other stuff. I sold all the extras on eBay afterwards for a few hunderd $ Which made it a lot cheaper.

No bad pricing but I did get better at the Adelaide show recently...
Yes I also got the 'show special' inclusions that I didnt really need too but hey I took 'em because the price wasnt about to be reduced further!
