  • Problem with Toyota Link

    Hi guys,

    We purchased a 2015 Toyota Prado GXL last month and I've been having trouble getting Toyota Link to work. I've registered and activated my Toyota Link account and also installed the app on my Android phone but every time I try to use any of the Toyota Link features I get a pop-up error message saying "Unable to process your request. Please try again later". I went into the Toyota dealership to see if whether the system was faulty but the guy was able to get it working perfectly with his iPhone and he couldn't help me any further because he had never used an Android phone before.

    I'm using a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact running Android Lollipop 5.1.1. I've also tried it on 2 other Samsung Note 4 also both running Android Lollipop 5.1.1. It didn't work with either of those phones either.

    I've enabled bluetooth and connected it to the car, I've enabled mobile data, I've enabled location services and now I just don't know what else to do to get the damn thing to work. I've tried searching for a solution online but it doesn't seem like it's a common problem and as such there isn't any solutions out there.

    So I was wondering if any of you guys have also experienced this before and could possibly please help me out.

    I had the same problem.
    I sent them an email and they came back about a month later with apologies and account fixed. The below was in the email.

      Hey mate thanks for the reply.

      I just contacted them and they were of no help and forwarded me to Toyota Link customer service. After spending about 30 minutes with them trying to explain my problem, the old lady on the phone tells me it's not working because the account does not have MY phone number on it (It's got my dad's number as the key phone number). I told her that shouldn't matter and that it was accessible on every phone as long as you have the login details, as shown when using the salesman's phone using the login details from our account, but she insisted I try it and that it will work. So I did it anyway for the sake of it and surprise surprise... it didn't work.

      Called back to a different agent and he couldn't help me either. Bloke didn't even understand the concepts of a phone system update and actually told me to 'revert back to Android 2.3 as that should work'. Yeah okay mate, I'll just revert my phone back to 5 years ago just so that I can run the bloody useless Toyota Link app. They also told me they've never encountered this problem before and there's nothing that they can do but escalate the issue and that they'll get back to me in the future.

        Didn't work for me either back in June, I sent an email and eventually they got back to me and sent a new password which I used to discover that all the services seem to be pay services.

        You would think that after buying a car they might throw the dog a bone but nope ! gunna suck a bit more out of me.

        I have never used it since and don't intend to
