Hmmm, it seems they get some pretty bad reviews under the Real Insurance banner (amongst others) based on Whirlpool, Product Review & other websites.

True - looks like a lot of direct debit/auto renewal problems though. Still not good enough.

Now I am concerned, might have to rethink unless I can be convinced otherwise. When you're talking about protection for your $60K plus investment...

Unsure if I can talk about other insurers here. But i am pretty new so please bear with me. I got mine delivered today. Thought would be best if i insure it before taking the delivery. Heard a lot of stories...
So i jumped online and went in for two insurers... RACQ and AAMI. I went for RACQ cause i saw a mention of RACQ here. AAMI because my other car is insured with AAMI. Now the problem is...
The quote i got from RACQ was approximately $1600/year - with wind shield protection and no hire car. Same configuration with AAMI the quote was $1035. Can any one please enlighten me as to why there is such a massive difference? What are the other members paying ... on an average and with which insurer?

No two insurers will ever be priced the same. They all experience differing frequency and severity of claims and their actuaries price accordingly.

Even within brands under the same security the pricing can vary... A change of lead actuary staff can even affect pricing for the same risk with the same insurer.

I understand that no two insurers will price the same. I understand too many claims from all over the region can also increase the premium even if I have never claimed. But we are looking at around 33% difference. That is a lot. I pose the question because I wasn't certain if I am missing something.

I thought about it too but here is my reasoning:

                    - agree the value - dont go the usual "market value" BS where you can get screwed over.
                    - most of the complaints with Hollard group are to do with direct debit. I pay annually so that won't concern me.
                    - if you've read the T&Cs and nothing stands out than if your car is a write off you will get paid.

Time will tell how good these guys are.

Club 4x4 can you comment on the Hollard Group's previous dealings in this country?

                        All,

Sorry I haven't been around for the last few days - silly season I guess!

I haven't seen the feedback regarding Hollard when it comes to claims nor the direct debit piece. If someone can throw up some links I'd be happy to take a look and where I can, I will shed some light.

Our view is pretty simple. We are here to be an enthusiast insurer, as such we need to be in tune with the needs of our customers and potential customers. This is the reason why our coverage is tailored. We offer you cover for your vehicle that no one else can, this is in the form of the sum insured (market/agreed vehicle value + your mod/accessory values = Sum insured) and our bespoke coverage points such as off road recovery, Australia wide personal effects cover etc.

We also understand that what we offer up front is very important, but the promise we make is to take care of you when things go wrong, not the piece of paper or email you get when you buy your policy.

Hollard is our underwriter, but they do not manage the claims. The brand itself manages the claims. Having said that I cannot comment on any complaints unfortunately, but having had way too many years in insurance I know that at times things go wrong - you will see complaints for every insurer online, but it is all contextual and often only one side of the story is heard.

As Pjorek said, if you have read up on your policy and are clear on the terms and conditions and the PDS, your often not going to have an expectation that cannot be matched by reality.

I hope this makes sense guys. We are here to be the insurer of choice for 4X4 enthusiasts, with a product that suits and a claims service that reflects the passion we have for our vehicles.

The majority of complaints seem to be about Hollards Insurace and Real Insurance which I believe were underwritten by Hollards, so I'm not sure its a reflection on your service. Some relate to Hollards in South Africa too.

ahhhh ok - yes Hollard underwrite many brands including Real. I think most people here are concerned that we may be the same. The key to remember is that Hollard doesnt do the claims, we do.

                              Morning all,

In case any of you haven't seen it (or don't follow us on Facebook) I wanted to throw this link up here.

There has been a fair bit of conjecture around the traps regarding our stance on contaminated fuel. We wanted to clear it up
