Interesting - I'm due for a renewal in Feb. I've been quoted slightly less than my current insurer ($50) but with $2.9k more value in accessories and with the same excess. CT is about 2.5 times my current cost....

Will do -Its not really not that much in total. It just sounds bigger when I say 2.5 times.

Does Club4x4 pay me out a nominal / agreed figure and I go and source the parts and installation? Do they say "No" and fit the same as what I had? Or do they agree to pay the supplier of the cheaper option?

                • Gday Vaelen.

Firstly apologies for the delayed response.

Your question is a good one. We will look at each claim on its own merit. In this particular case if you wanted to replace a $3500 bullbar let's say with a 2000 one, we will ask for receipts for your original piece then we would work with you to arrange repair/replacement. We will firstly try to arrange to supply and fit it, or check out pricing on the bar you want and pay for you to have the work done, ie. write you a cheque.

Each circumstance will be slightly different but the above is the process that we will generally go through.

You are not far off, a mate of mine wanted a sovereign bar on his prado and Toyota quoted $3600 fitted!:crying: . $1400 for the bar and $2200 for fitment.

Hi What happens when i bought the vehicle used and all the bits were already on it?
Do I then need to get a quote from both the repairer and the potential other supplier?

                        • Hi Vaelen,

In that case we would ask for the details of the piece and see whether we can source it. If we cant, then we will research the prices and cash settle you on an appropriate price for replacement.

                          Does that make sense?

                          Cheers

                            • Trying to get an insurance quote for the brand new Prado that I am picking up on Tuesday. Don't have the rego, but entered a number from my paper work, which I think is the VIN. Allowed me to proceed. Website needs an option to get a cover note on a vehicle yet to be delivered.
Not many insurers allow a reasonable value of additional equipment. Most top out at $1500 worth of accessories. My old 90 is insured with Affinity who do cover accessories to a reasonable value. Will likely try Club4x4 since I am adding $7000 worth of gear to the Prado (initially), and premium pricing seems to be competitive.
