  • Goodbye Paj

In a strange move by Mitsubishi, it appears that the new paj will be the last big 4x4 the company makes.

The paj has always been considered by me as a perfect car for a baby boomer like my dad. Although I've never considered one for myself, there certainly has been one around ever since I was a kid.

Really is a shame to see the pajero let go wouldn't surprise me if Toyota is left producing large 4x4s. I like the idea how car makers are trying to develop engines more economically instead of a large V8 but looks like Mitsubishi isn't playing around.

I guess all those Paj owners can save up an extra $15K and buy the same spec in a prado

I don't know why I find that so hard to believe! A lot of Pajero lovers in Australia. And they do the job well from what I have read.

When you see the amount of older ones still getting around that should say something about their longevity. Now, what will the tourists up north rent to drive through the Kimberley and NT?

I did my bit. I bought two! The shorty V6 was a great beach animal.

I bought a paj in '96 after going to the Toyota yard for a prado - the first shipment had sold almost as soon as they hit the yards (remember the big promo of the prado on the deck of the ship) so back to Mitsubishi for the dark blue escape on ramps up the back - such a pretty boy and still is but here in Canberra getting hard to get decent major parts for

picked up a 2006 vx two weeks back but still find it hard to say goodbye to the old nj - one day when I'm ready and the right buyer comes along...
