D4D removal of EGR plate

G'day all,
A mate just bought an 07 hilux d4d and it has its EGR blocked off and is throwing codes. We have searched high and low and can't find this illusive plate. Spent hours trolling the internet looking for assistance but we can't find any.
My question simply is, where would the blocking plate be on this engine?

Usually fitted between the cylinder head and the EGR cooler at the front passenger side of the head. Can be just a thin piece of shim steel like the original metal gasket.

Best to leave it in and fit a manual mapper from ozbush electrics. Have a look in the 120series Diesel engine section for the manual mapper project thread

Is it a fact it has a plate fitted?
Or
Perhaps the egr is blocked up & throwing egr related codes?
The reason I ask is, if a plate was fitted & that caused problems, surely the fitter would remove it again?

The correct place to fit is as Mozz said at the head.
However UNTILL this was recommended by someone most people were fitting them under the egr valve
This is far less effective & if there was no code right away or soon afterwards, it would likely eventuate.

He bought the car with the seller telling him that the EGR has a blocking plate installed. The engine light is on as a result. We just had no idea where to even look on the car. If anyone has a picture it would be appreciated

Ok cool.

So you need to find the egr cooler.
That's the rectangle stainless steel box looking unit above the inlet manifold.
The plate could be at either end of that.
You need to be handy with a few 1/4 drive tools & patient. 10mm &12mm socket. 10mm spanner. Etc etc.

I'd say plug it in & find out which codes first, there may be another problem, perhaps some b.s story by the seller?
