  • how do you like your brake pedal

    Hi all

So my question is do you like a soft pedal with a bit of travel or harder with less or no travel.

Normally I do prefer a hard pedal in a car but my Prado has quite a soft pedal. Should it be softer for off road work or is it personal preference.

    Cheers

    Hi Shane
    A question for you
When was the last time the brake fluid got changed ?
this makes a difference if it hasn't been done for quite a while .

    hope this helps

theres some thing wrong with your brakes find whats wrong and fix it. The pedal should be as hard and solid as any commodore.
I got myself some Big Horn Maxxis and was telling my landrover lover mate he said what size did you get I told him 265/75/16 he said I didn't know they came that small.

Somewhere between Firm and squishy. I dont want to feather the brake and stop dead. I also dont want to have to search for the point where my brakes start working.

Mine is quite solid and stiff. While all the fluid is changed on a regular basis, I have changed all 5 hoses for braided.

I like my brake pedal to be connected to the push-rod that goes through the booster and on into the master cylinder.

Some years ago, whilst driving my modified 66 XP Falcon sedan-delivery, with 289 V8, C4 and 9 inch conversion, the pedal separated from the pin securing it from the push rod. Failed to negotiate a left hand bend at about 80km/hr, mounted the kerb narrowly missing another motorist, hit a sand embankment and launched into the air coming down hard on the nose. Everything forward of the firewall was bent.

After getting the chassis rails straightened I sourced an old ute and cut the front end out of it and glued this to the van. She came back together smoother, blacker and tougher with the sides filled in and coffin rack removed and new rims. Sweet. Should have kept the old shagging wagon.
