  • Prado 150 low 4

Hi all . Has anyone experienced problems trying to disengage LOW 4 on a Prado 150 diesal? This has happened to us twice now once on top of Big Red , wasn't until on the bitueum near Birdsville that it came out and once on Frazer Is . Both occassions were sand. After a few attempts at rocking forward and reverse it does go back to High 4 but I'm interested if there are any solutions to this.

This can be a warning sign for a major problem with the transfer case, search should find a couple of threads on this.

Have a read of this; http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...e-won-t-engage

Hopefully it's not this which is quite a common problem.

I'm on my second 150 diesel manual and both can baulk to change into and out of low range if the clutch is not fully engaged whilst the car is crawling. Failsafe method is to bring the car to a complete stop, clutch in, select 'box range and it's fine. Same for centre diff lock

Piece of piss compared to jumping out to lock hubs on my old 4-Runner!
