I tested both... I prefer the 'floaty' feel of the Prado, especially over the rough. Everest felt like it had a little more 'umph' over the Prado on the tarmac. Hated the cheapish finish of the Everest interior (modern it may have been, but actually it did look more like a ute)... The leather on the demo Everest also looked a little dated - which was surprising given that the it was only few months old.

Other than the engine, didn't really feel like the Titanium had the Kakadu covered (It was going to be one or the other)

Truth be told, I was probably leaning towards a Prado before I even got into an Everest. So the Everest had to do a lot more to change my mind, and it didn't/couldn't (Difficult to change biased opinions you know!)
2.8L Kakadu (Chrystal Pearl). Extras - Snorkel, tow-bar, tint & bonnet protection. Wish list - Bash-plate, diff breather extension

Yeah you're quite right re sizes. My colleague at work parks his 2016 Landcruiser next to my 2016 V6 Prado Kakadu everyday and I have compared the relative sizes each day. His Landcruiser is only about 30cm longer but it has noticably greater clearance. Heights are about the same with my alloy roof rack attached and his has the poxy standard rails. I love driving in his as the V8 is a gem and the sounds are aphrodisiacal (nor sure if there is such a word lol).I hated the diesel noise in the Prado and the Everest (and they were soooooooooo slow) which I road tested extensively and the overtaking speed of the Prado left the others for dead, which was my main need (traded on a Lexus ISF!!!! - enough said).

Agreed with the strange Drive assessment. Carrying 400 litres of water is going to make any car 'rock and roll through corners' and also reduce performance. It would have also have about 75kg of extra fuel on board.

I find all these "reviews" pretty amusing. If you have to compare many other vehicles to the same class as the Prado, then maybe they're just not worth getting in the first place...especially when their capabilities keep falling short when compared to the Prado.

As for comparing an Everest to a Prado...how embarrassing for Ford!

            Just my 2 cents worth.

I do tend to agree with them, when ours was loaded up for the first trip away and towing C.T I personally didn't like the rock and roll feel so simply upgrade the suspension and love it now

I think a suspension upgrade would be my first change if i did it all over again... The driving / handling dynamics are so much better. For ~$1000, its the most value for money change ive made, considering i use it every day.

According to the ADR's the Everest is not technically an off road vehicle and technically you can't lift it, or fit some aftermarket more 4WD focused tires...

I had no idea what the result was going to be between the 3 cars, but when I began reading he was going on and on about the Everest as though he couldn't fault it and it was obvious he favoured it (because Ford slipped some fifties into his back pocket, who knows). And to weigh down the Prado with a 400kg weight penalty was bulls*it. And then to use its "rocking from side to side" against it was pretty low, even for him. I know when my car is on the Fraser Is inland tracks for example it definitely rocks from side to side more with 4-5 people in it in it as opposed to just having one to two people in it. What a rigged and biased story that was. The author of it must think people are dumb.

Another case of pay for comment.. As most of the magazines and websites that review cars are now.

So instead of paying an extra cost to the government adding to the sales figure of each 4wd Everest for off-roading compliance, Ford have assumed the buyer of an Everest won't be an off-roading enthusiast, yet they market them as being a tough capable off-roader. Every commercial for a soft roader just came to mind here where they flog them along well groomed dirt roads and through shallow creeks and claim they "go anywhere" by not only saying it, but finishing the commercial with the car on top of mount impossible. Not being able to fit LT off-roading tyres to one because you're legally not allowed.... Epic, epic fail on Ford's part. The flagship Falcon's are being replaced with the Mondeo that is hardly a household name and nobody cares about them. Pretty bad if Ford feel they need to start afresh with the family sedan. The Mondeo's not renowned as a cheaply slapped together unreliable clunky piece of sh*t... Yet! Their 4wd ute is a lemon. Ford really are up the duff. I never liked the later model Mustangs much. They're bearable while they are limited in numbers, but as more and more of them hit the road I will really dislike them even more. There's way better cars in its class but a real shame they aren't sold here for the time being.

Ford are growing faster than any other brand at the moment. Sales up 25%, they will overtake Holden soon and be chasing down Mazda.

The Everest hasn't sold well due to its high pricing, so this isn't going to change much.

Nissan sell more V8 patrols for $70k then all three models of the Everest.
