  • Planning a 4week trip. Adelaide to Darwin. Any ideas?

Hi all, we are planning a 4 week trip in the Prado from Adelaide to Darwin in July. Looking for ideas and any highlights to see along the way including good campsites. Plan to include the major attractions such as Kings Canyon, Ayers Rock, Katherine Gorge, Palm Valley?, Litchfield and Kakadu. Does anybody have any itinerary tips?

    Cheers
    Ben

    Hi Ben,

Are you self suficient, ie camper trailer etc or do you want to stay in provided accommodation?

Hi Mav, Yes self sufficient. Camping with tent. May stay in the odd cabin or accomodation along the way if needed but most of it will be in campsites.

Download the 4x4 guide to Central Australia that should help you out with some ideas. I listed in the thread by that name.

I recommend doing the Mereenie Loop road from Kings Canyon to Palm Valley and camp there overnight. Then next day head to Rainbow Valley via the Owen Springs reserve track. Either camp there or head on to Alice Springs.
