  • Aussie swag camper

Hi everyone, I'm new to Pradopoint although have been an unregistered user for a while now. I have made really good use of everyones experiences regarding modifications and upgrades, and will soon add some of my own for others.

Does anyone know if the Prado rear door will open fully when an Aussie Swag camper is on the back.

I have placed an order for the aussie swag and just realised that the door may not fully open, which would be a pain to say the least.

Would really like to talk to other aussie swag owners

    Hi PradoDog.

This is also my first post however I do currently own an Aussie Swag and when I had my Prado could not open the back door very far at all with the options I had fitted to my camper. Depending on which model of Swag you have ordered as well as the options in front of the kitchen area (Fridge Box, Jerry / Gas Bottle Holders, Bike Rack etc) will depend on how far you will actually be able to open the door. My opened far enough for me (with optional fridge box installed) to be able to get into my fridge on top of my rear draws inside the car. The left draw couldn't be opened a great deal at all.

I don't know how many other camper manufacturer's out there that are in the same part of the market as Aussie Swag are that would allow the rear door to open fully as well as having Gas / Jerry holders etc on them also.

    Hope this helps...

      Hi Guys

we recently got a Rover LX and had them put the stone guard as far back as possible (no boat motor, bike rack -- only the gas bottles and water/fuel holders)

You still cannot get the door FULLY open (unless you park at an angle) but it does open a fair way and we can open our draws and pull the fridge slide out (on the LHS)!

        Pradodog,
I have a Cape York Explorer Extreame Camper and I have purchased a 308mm Hayman Resse Tow Ball Mount which allows me to open the back door fully if I have trailer a bit of an angle.

        Hope this helps...

        Cheers,

On a side issue are you happy with the Aussie Swag?

Yes we are very happy with our's and quoting Borgy it does tow very well behind the Prado.

We have had ours since Dec 2002 and it has been faultless. Very dust tight also.

I initially ordered the fridge box on the front for storing the fridge with intention on getting another fridge for the car, however the box now stores the porta-loo, porta-loo tent and other campsite essentials.

              A good choice in campers.

              Cheers,

              Mark.

Do you guys run air bags. I think i'm going to need some sort of lift when towing. I went on a camping trip recently and found when fully loaded ground clearence was an issue. it's going to a lot worst with 120kg of down weight on the tow ball aswell.

Is it too late to ask for an extended drawbar?

I know it is available as an option on other camper manufactures trailers.

                        Aussie Swag offRoad Camper trailer

Can anybody tell me what a 2001 aussie swag offroad camper trailer would be worth, and are they a good camper.
i have found one forsale, it's the hard floor rover lx with the independant coil spring suspension and all the usual
tarps and annex etc. They want 12500 for it but as far as i can tell they were only 13500 new in 01.
any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.

                            Re: aussie swag camper

I own a 2000 aussieswag classic ($13,000 Brand new in 2000)and i could have bought the rover lx if i had a few more $$ they are a great camper trailer they tow well comfy well more than a tent, that price sounds reasonable for that model.
If you have seen it and it looks ok i'd buy it, and i mean i would buy it.
