Anyone know this Prado? I'm Looking to buy it

Hey all.

My Brother is looking to buy a Prado and has just put a deposit on one.

It has had a bit of work so I reckon someone here might know it?

I am remote currently so can't upload photos so here is my best description.

It is a 02/2007 diesel, gold exterior, sandy dune interior QLD rego 868JZN

Looks like it has had a lift, ARB rear airlocker, dual batteries abr sidewinder isolator, spotties and uhf.

Good looking, well equipped truck, I am just concerned that the dealer appears to have given the entire underbody a full blackout spray paint. What are they hiding?

So, anyone know it?

Given all the gear you say it has they are probably trying to pretty up all the off-road scuffs and scrapes. Being in Queensland it may also have done some beach work so had some surface rust. That black stuff is something a lot of dealers do so that alone is no reason to be too concerned. They did it to my old 95 Series when we traded it and it hadn't seen much dirt at all. Here's a pic of it all tarted up, note the exhaust pipe is black as is a lot of the underside (wheel wells, etc) :-

Hey Fido, yeah my thoughts exactly. I reckon t has seen some use and they are just tarting it up.

Was hoping it might be a PP'er so I could get some history.

Black paint won't hide scrapes but will hide the colour of the scraps. I reckon you should be able to see evidence of scrapes but by getting under it not just poking your head down low.

She wasn't looking too bad for a 10 year old Prado. Gone but not forgotten.

MDS69 good point, I just don't like the dishonesty of painting over it all. I mean one little finger in under the fuel tank guard and there is a tonne of red dust so it's obvious she's been off road but anyway, such is buying a used car from a dealer!
