Graphic design drawing program.

Hi I want to get some 6mm plate laser or water cutting for a tab and slot project I'm looking at. I need to supply a DFX drawing to get quotes. What free programs are good for this type of thing. I assume I only need a 2D program. Any help would be great. I would have no drama drawing it on paper but never had much to do with digital stuff.

A contractor doing some design and build work for us use software called draftsight.

We use Inventor and Autocad at work, but they're not free...
