  • Will it Fit - Height including roof rails

Toyota list the height of the Prado (GXL, VX) at 1890mm http://www3.toyota.com.au/prado/spec...bo-diesel-auto

Does this height include the roof rails. Initially I did't think it did, but the GX height is listed at 1845mm which makes me think it might.

My roller door (which we don't use) takes up a little space under the roof of the carport. Being safe and conservative, at the lowest point, I have 1900mm of clearance. The colourbond frame at entry has a clearance of 1960mm. I am thinking about taking the door down and the frame if neccesary. Before I do, I am keen to confirm the height including roof rails to ensure this is really needed.

I would welcome your thoughts and will be really thankful if anyone with the latest series 150 VX or GXL could measure the actual height including roof rails.

    Cheers.

Just did a quick measure on our GXL:

At the rear of the rail - 1890mm
    At the front - 1870mm

I have bullbar (Smartbar), dual batteries and have removed the 3rd row seats.

We had the same issue, low entrance to garage, so we brought the car home during a test drive to check it out.

    Cheers

        Hi.

I have been through this drama with my roof rack and yes the height quoted by Toyota does include to the top of the roof rails if they are standard on the vehicle you are quoting the dimensions from.

In the end, I had a really nice looking and very strong custom made roof rack specially designed by a fabricator to suit my garage door height.

They designed the rack to a maximum of 140mm from the top of the roof (with the rails removed).

This gave me about 2cm clearance.

It did cost me about $2000 but was worth it as it looks fabulous and is very strong.

        Cheers.
