  • Excellent service from Tyredog Australia / Zylux Distribution

On our recent trip out to gawler Ranges and Streaky Bay, I found the rear right tyre to lose pressure overnight on our last night of stay before returning home. The pressure was at 40psi the day before but dropped significantly enough to see that the air pressure is going down. Suspecting a puncture I swapped out with the spare as a precaution but I couldn't find any punctures at all.

We made it back to Adelaide without any issues while continuing to keep an eye on the tyre pressures. The next day, the pressure dropped 2psi and I thought that it was unusual. The 2nd day, another 2psi was lost so topped up the 4psi lost and continue monitoring. I couldn't find any punctures on this tyre either. So I narrowed it down to either debris in the bead or the Tyredog sensor. I didn't go down to sand pressures during the trip so it would be unusual for the leak to be coming from the bead.

I decided to remove the Tyredog sensor altogether and run for a few days to see if there were any further leaks, and there were none. The original tyre that dropped pressure on the trip also held pressure.

I then emailed Tyredog Australia / Zylux Distribution in Vic and described the above. The helpful staff suspects that the seal in the sensor may be the issue. I then compared the "faulty" sensor with the other sensors and noticed that there was a circular brass coloured band in the faulty sensor compared to the normal one which is black. The staff determined that it is definitely the seal and requested the sensor be sent to them for seal replacement as it needs a special tool for the replacement procedure.

So I sent the sensor to them at my cost and they replaced the seal. The good news is that there was no charge for the seal replacement. I asked them if they have seen this before and they did but only a few. So not a common fault but it can happen. I asked if this can be preventable and the only thing they can think of it to not overtighten the sensor that it requires a tool to get it off. I'm guessing mine is just a bit of extra wear and tear.

I paid for the return postage and it arrived today and all is working well again. So pretty happy with the no fuss replacement service. It was probably a low cost item but their customer service exceeded my expectations.

Thumbs up for Zylux from me also. I had an out of warranty sensor that was reading low, I dropped into their office and they tested it, confirmed the fault and then replaced it free of charge.
